I deleted my personal Facebook "700 friends", Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin accounts back in 2016, nine years ago. Linkedin I had to reactivate in 2021 because, despite all the spam, lies, hipocrisy and security flaws, it has become the standard in HR (not that I ever landed a job through it - all my jobs I landed throug my personal IT network). I never felt the need to use those tools again. Whenever I need to buy flowers or order some morning breakfast for someone's birthday from companies that just use Instagram or Facebook, I use an empty ghost account I created exactly for this. I certainly feel happier, or maybe, less depressive, after stop seeing only the rich, the happy, the look-what-a-great-holiday-I-am-able-to-provide-for -my-family, and look-my-puffed-lips-everywhere.

Is there any way to disable ads on LG TVs? I was really frustrated with my Samsung TV when it suddenly started showing ads in the Smart Hub. After I disabled the relevant setting in the configuration menu, the ads seemed to stop. I was actually considering switching back to LG for my next TV because Tizen has been so sluggish—but now, I'm reconsidering. Honestly, there's no version of ads that people enjoy. Does anyone actually like having their experience interrupted by ads—whether you're just trying to change the channel or switch inputs? I can't imagine anyone answering 'yes' to that. We all hate ads, and yet companies keep pushing them into every device we use. It's just ridiculous.

The problem is that even government services are becoming increasingly dependent on smartphones—at least in my country. These days, I use my phone to make payments, transfer money, show my driver's ID, apply for jobs through my digital work wallet, and even vote. Meanwhile, companies are shifting their focus from PCs to mobile platforms, which I personally dislike because PCs offer a larger and more comfortable screen. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll see simpler, “dumber” phones making a comeback anytime soon. And to make things worse, shady companies are exploiting the growing dependence on smartphones—and the general decline in attention spans—to get people to click on useless, low-quality content. On the bright side, this month marks nine years since I uninstalled Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and deleted my accounts. No regrets there.

Thank you for such clear vision on my own idea of why going to Mars is an aberration and a fantasy. Colonization simply will NOT happen. It is just a silly dream. The part about fixing this planet and all the crap we did here before trying to leave coke cans in another world is what gets me more.

Thats the inicial handshake sequence, and the one (kinda bit differently sound) I did and at the time the modems would reply on the TTY screen: "Connected" or something like that as I recalled it. Sometimes they would not accept my handshake and reply with weird characters in the screen. I cannot perform the same sounds anymore since I grew 26 years older after that, but it worked.

People still use it? Really? The last time I cashed out something out of an ATM was in 2018! Everybody in my country is able to do transactions digitally without using any real money. It works and it works well. When I travel to US I always get admired at people still using physical currency or asking others to "sign" credit card purchases.

I really couldn't care less about Ebay. Their shipping prices overseas are absurd. My first purchase on eBay was in 1994. I bought a lot back in the day. When the Internet was flourishing. For a decade the shipping prices were about 5-10 dollars to where I live (not in US). Today, it's not hard to find $100 for shipping, or many times a higher price than the product for shipping here. Obviously, eBay doesn't want to stay competitive. My last purchase on ebay was in 2020. The product never came by the way and it was refunded. What a joke. Close soon, eBay!
