I also learned machine code on the Z80 using a TS-1000. The code in the book had an error and I had to learn enough to figure out what they had done wrong and fix it. In the end I got it working. That was a fun little computer.

When they switched my car's assistant (using Android Auto) over to Gemini, I absolutely hated it. I could not get it to shut up. You'd ask a question and it would go on and on with endless follow-ups. Hey! I'm driving Here! Shut up!. I said "cancel" trying to stop it and it cancelled my whole route in Maps. I had to disable Gemini on my phone.

At the very least, it needs to realize you are driving and then only give you it's best answer to your question and then shut up. You can always ask a follow-up question.

True. I bought a used 2010 Prius from CarMax in 2011. They had 4 or five on the lot. They were different trim levels and all were priced at the exact same crazy low price. People were afraid to buy them because of the battery. So, I picked the must highly optioned one and bought it. I then put over 250,000 trouble free miles on it.

I have had 5 Priuses and two hybrid RAV4s. The Priuses have easily gone over 200,000 miles. The RAVs are too new to have done that, but are doing great. None have had a battery problem. I personally know 1 person whose Prius battery failed. And Toyota replaced it for free.

FYI, the thing that kills Priuses is the stupid 10,000 mile oil change interval recommended by Toyota. The oil rings get compromised and they start burning oil. Change it every 5,000 miles or every 6 months if you don't drive much and you will probably never have a problem.

I'm on my first BEV and absolutely love it. And will probably never go back.

Amen, when I git the first wiff of AI in online content, I'm gone. It is a real shame. I'm a Youtube addict and there are some truly amazing content creators on that platform. I find though that I am having to wade through more and more crap every day. Why anyone wants to watch/listen to AI created content is just something I cannot understand.

This makes me think about some of the speeches I heard in the 70s about paying farmers not to farm. I can't remember who it was, but one senator or representative said something along the line of. "I figure I'll start small. The first year I'll not plant 500 acres. The second year maybe 1000. And then just gradually work my way up". It was actually pretty funny.

I was one of those who found it extremely unreliable so mine did not get much use. I may still have unopened blank disks.

It hasn't been that long ago (early 90s) that some military aircraft still had periscope sextants and they were still being used. They were seldom used as a primary navigation device. They were mostly used in training. With a sextant and a good navigator (and the appropriate charts) you could definitely determine where you were with a surprising amount of accuracy. One of my jobs when I flew was taking the sextant shots. I always enjoyed it.

I didn't need a phone that folded in half. I think I need this one one sixth less.
