Ha ha! So true!

Just the other day, I asked a woman out for coffee, and she said I had to go to a federally licensed relationship dealer first, who would confirm that I am at least 21 years old, and then run a check against a national database to verify that I haven't been convicted of any felonies or other violent offenses!

After that, she told me, I'd have a mandatory waiting period of ten days before I could take her out. Also, if I wanted to take her in my car, she'd have to be chained up and immobile, with a government certified lock, or kept in the locked trunk of my car where I could not reach her, unless, of course, I were to take a government mandated training course, and get a special permit from the county law enforcement, that may or may not be granted, at their whim. Wow!

Also, she told me there were a bunch of places where she was forbidden, like areas around schools, courthouses, airports, university campuses, and such. Also, I found out my workplace doesn't even allow women at all! Holy cow!

Turns out, thanks to recent legislation in my state, I can't even buy food for a woman unless I go through *another* background check, just to prove that I'm only buying food for the woman who is with me, and not some other woman!

Yes, it's crazy, all the byzantine restrictions on women, when I can walk into any old store, plop down some cash, and walk out with a gun that I can then just wave around like a maniac with no legal repercussions at all!

It's an Electron app, which is the latest cross-platform hotness, which means it's basically a web app that has been wrapped with its own instance of Node.js and the Blink (aka Chrome) engine, which is the stupidest thing since Do-it-yourself brain surgery.

If you already use Chrome/Chromium, you can save a shit-ton of RAM by launching Slack like so: /usr/bin/chromium --app=https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmydumbcompany.slack.com

This will give you a separate window with no menus or toolbars that runs Slack with almost exactly the same functionality as the standalone app, except for a tray icon. Depending on your window manager, though, you may be able to configure it to show as a tray icon (that's what I did).

I also created a .desktop file for this so I can just launch it with a click.

The Atari of today has nothing to do with the original Atari that actually made games and computers.

Atari is now nothing more than a brand name and some IP that has been passed around several times until Infogrames, a French holding company, bought the name in an attempt to capitalize on the good will and nostalgia gamers had for the original brand. What they've really done is dilute that good will even further.

You jest, but this is exactly what happened last year.

Apple's Diversity Chief was forced out after committing heresy. She said that a room of twelve white men could be diverse, because they could all come from different backgrounds and experiences. She was forced to apologize for this heinously offensive statement, and step down, and she was replaced by a white woman.

This makes it stunningly clear that what currently passes for social justice advocacy is really more about rigidly enforcing dogma than it is about helping people.
