This is the difference between a government that cares about consumer rights, and a government who gleefully applies the lube for corporations to fuck youn with.

That's one thing these tech companies don't seem to get. Every company I've worked for either has some form of cubes, or open desks for at least a good portion of the building. It's hard enough to have a phone call in those places without bothering everyone around you, but if they want the whole computer to be voice activated, that is just dumb. Everyone is going to be talking over each other, your neighbor's computer will pick up your voice just like we deal with today with the whole Alexa/Siri mess if those devices are around. Who wants any of this in an actual business setting?

I'd much rather they just let us filter out all crap from China, but they will never allow that because people would see that's where 90% of their crap is from. I aggressively always look for goods made in the US, and Amazon actively makes that harder by not listing country of origin, or letting you filter this way in searches.

The wealthy aren't carrying credit card balances, so the credit card companies aren't making anything off them except the low swipe charges the businesses pay. They NEED the poor having credit cards and revolving debt to make any money. I haven't had a balance on any of my cards in years, the credit card companies aren't too particularly fond of me as they only make those swipe fees off me.

I'd really just prefer a stripped down Sequoia at this point. I already turn off/disable Apple Intelligence and Siri, they are useless to me and serve no purpose. I have no desire to talk to my computer, and anything I'd ask it to do I could do quicker with my own mouse and keyboard. I'm just tired of all the gimmicks both in MacOS and Windows. On the windows side I run a stripped down Win10 IOT LTSC version with all the cruft removed, it's fairly usable at that point. I just want my OS to stop changing major functionality on a whim because some bean counter decided it was time to change the settings app, or right click options, or network settings etc.. after it's been the same and perfectly usable for decades.

I watch YouTube almost exclusively on my TV using an AppleTV. It's great with no real complaints, except for the incessant push it makes for Shorts. Why Google thinks I ever want to watch a tall narrow short video on my 55in wide screen TV is beyond me, but it's annoying as hell and there is no way to just turn them off and remove them from my feed. Shorts are designed for vertical viewing on a phone, not for a wide screen TV. Just give us an option to toggle them off so I never see it in my feed and I'd be quite happy.

I would say it's the family that buys it second or third hand down the line for 1/2 and 1/4 of the original price that gets infuriated they can't use it because the functions are locked behind a subscription. This just makes buying used and reusing old items impractical.

I can confirm this method works. Going into my O365 family plan it gave me no option to switch plans, however after clicking cancel it showed the ability to switch to the family classic plan, saving the $30/yr. It’s obvious why they hid this, nobody is going to pay $30 for a feature they will never use.

You mean some people leave this enabled? It’s literally the first thing I disable on all systems so I can actually install an OS properly.

So the point of this is to have you apply to fewer jobs by showing you don't match them well enough, though it is only applies to paid subscribers? All the free people will just apply to all the jobs like normal. This seems backwards, now those actually paying will be getting less job opportunities? Sounds about right. lol

It's not even about not wanting to buy new computers. I just built a top of the line gaming PC last year but put Win10 LTSC on it because I hate all the changes in 11. I have no intention of ever moving that system off Win10. I use Mac and Linux for my daily systems at home, Windows is relegated to just a gaming OS. The day SteamOS can reach parity for everything I play I'll be moving my system to that.

70 hour work weeks toiling away is great when you have tons of money and can go home each day to your mansion, professional chef and house cleaner, when all you need to do is wake up each day and everything is already done for you. For all the peons under him it's torture and literally not enough time in the day to take care of all real things that need done outside of work. It's insane how out of touch these shitty elites are.

I've disabled IPv6 on all my network gear and systems. All my local ISPs are still providing IPv4 public addresses even for home users. For any normal internal network, IPv6 is overkill and pointless. All the devices are going to be behind a firewall handing out dhcp addresses anyway. I'd much rather be working with the shorter IPv4 addresses when administering these system anyway. Plus I would never want any of my devices directly accessible from the internet anyway, I like having that extra bit of abstraction through a NAT.

I too have a couple systems on Win 7, they are VMs I have running at home, they run 24/7 for years and have never had an issue with them, it’s still my favorite windows OS, a nice clean interface. I moved to Mac and Linux for my main systems around 20 years ago, at this point I have 1 Win10 system and it’s only for gaming. I fully intend on keeping it on Win10 LTSC for as long as it will run. The day it stops, I’ll move to SteamOS for gaming. I really can’t stand what they have done to the Windows interface and all the nagging and hand holding in 11.
