Journal Some Woman's Journal: Poll: Cold enough for ya? 29

A) It's perfect, thanks for asking.

B) I should really bring last week's groceries inside. The milk froze.

C) I have to dry my hair, lest I develop icicles protruding from my head.

D) I think I lost my toes three days ago, but I'm not sure.

E) I'm a wuss. It's actually 50F right now, but I think that's cold.

F) I know not the meaning of this word "cold."

G) It's summer where I come from, fool!

H) I think polls are dumb, yet feel strangely compelled to answer.

I) I am of an oft ignored minority who cannot answer any of the above options due to its discriminatory nature.

J) I could answer one of the above options, but I choose not to because I'm obstinate.

Poll: Cold enough for ya?

  • It's actually 44 degrees here, with a forecast of 49 today. Ah, how I love the Pacific Northwest.
  • Actually, now that the heat's started working again, i'm not so uncomfortable with the fact that it's hailing. The sun is shining, and it's partly cloudy, and the hail is falling everywhere there's cloud cover. For a while there i felt as if i were in a cartoon, walking back from the pharmacy (where i went to get anaesthetic for this broken tooth) with a storm cloud following me and hailing, while the sunshine is just ten feet ahead (and i can't go fast enough to reach it.) I was actually laughing out loud
  • And that's because I live in So. California :P

It's probably only a touch below the 50's as a LOW temperature. Despite that, out of all places in the house, my room seems to get the coldest, not sure if its lack of insulation, its position from heater, or whatever.

All I know is that pajama pants are good *smirks*
  • and maybe some H.

I much prefer the cold over the heat. Some chill is nice after the heat was getting silly here in the SF Bay Area over the last several months.
    • Watch the weather forecast on TV in the morning.
    • If it's going to be cold, make sure to put on scarf, overcoat and Kangol hat before leaving house.
    • If it's really cold, put on gloves as well.
    • Walk faster!
    • Get back indoors as soon as possible!
    Sorted!

Although I don't particularly like it when the temperature hits the mid-30s (Celcius, of course) as I don't have air-conditioning at home. However, I do quite enjoy the sights t be seen whilst walking down the street - scantily clad ladies are always welcome. ;-)
    • The barely dressed girls are part of the reason I welcome winter's approach. That means I can concentrate and not get disrtacted while walking. Also eliminates some of my neck problems.

Ahhh - but that is a price I am willing to pay. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. ;-)
  • I'd prefer it to be a bit colder, but yes, I know the meaning of "cold", and there are limits to how cold I like. Much below -15 degrees and I'd rather be somewhere warmer. Yesterday was the first really heavy frost of winter, and it was really nice. The scenery from the train was glistening white on my way into work, the air was crisp and clear, and I wish it was like that more often. But sadly, days like today are more common -- gloomy, overcast and wet. But I'm hoping we're going to get a relatively hars

Last weekend was our first big snowfall of the season (about 8 inches). As long as I don't have to drive, it's my favorite time of year. It's beautiful. Though, in a couple of weeks it'll just be brown snow and a whole lot of bitter cold.
  • Gotta love living in California. ;)

If I want "real" cold, I'll go to Tahoe. :D
  • F) I know not the meaning of this word "cold."

I was born in Latvia and live in Canada. A third of my ancestral clans were deported to Siberia. Cold doesn't bother me.:)
  • I love the cold. IT gives me an excuse to wear my London Fog trench coat, black felt fedora hat, ada nice fleace scarf. Perfect!

It was only 25f last night, but the snow came down. They closed the major highway leading east from Pittsburgh while I was driving home cause the mountain (Chickoree Mt. on US22[1]) had 12 different accidents on it. I had to sit on the side of the highway for 90 minutes till the plow, cinder, and salt trucks came through. Took me 4hrs to drive 120 miles AND the Penguins lost.

[1] Chickoree Mountain isn't that big (1700ft) but the highway basically goes straight up ut at a 14% average grade, in some p

  • It was about right to bring the boy's fever down. Hope it stays down. Also hope the couple of bites of dinner he ate stay down.

"Hi, Joe, ready to get up from your nap?"
    *cough* *cough* BLLAAAAAAAA

Luckily, I caught most of it in my shirt.

I've lived in California my whole life, so that's surprisingly accurate. Actaully I think almost through high school my attire consisted exclusively of t-shirt and shorts, even though I had to bike to school in the 40-degree mornings of winter.

But now I'm a spoiled sissy. I'm back in the sf bay area for t-day, and the current temperature of 51 degrees is unpleasantly cold. The forecast for my current residence [noaa.gov], on the other hand, is rather pleasant :). I'll have to go for a swim at the beach when I get
  • Because it is Texas, land o' HOT.

Now, were you to ask any native-born Tex, they would say it is subartic, but I say fooie on that.

I can finally wear my long coat. Why do people keep hitting the deck when I walk in the door?

Regarding answer B one time in Canada that actually hapened to me. It was my first real winter I didn't know better.
  • blah blah blah :-p
  • SW, being a Chem girl, I would expect you to know that there is no such thing as cold. There is only the absence of heat. ;-)

That being said, I froze my tail off playing paintball yesterday and I had 3 shirts and a jacket and 2 pairs of pants on.

  • It just cracked below 65F in Florida over the weekend, and it was absolutely perfect to finally be able to spend an entire day outside without my CT-winter-trained carcass threatening to render into my composite elements.
