Journal Some Woman's Journal: ISTJ Pride! (Myers-Briggs Typeology) 54

Okay, I know this has been bandied about before, but I was just reminded today of how freaking many ISTJs there are in the world, myself and LP#2 included. We're going to take over the world. But the question is: are you with us or against us?

Take the test.

Edit: For the record, NTs make up less than 7% of the population, but many of you may be of the NT persuasion because it signifies rationality, and is very common in the IT/Science world. That doesn't make me irrational, just better. ;)

In high school, a friend commented to me how I was good at finding peace and quiet in a loud environment. Yeah, you might be able to say that's just another way of making fun of me for being anti-social, but I guess I always considered it a compliment. I know him well enough to know he didn't mean it as an insult.

I'm also the type of guy who, when put into a new social situation, would rather listen to others than immediately jump in and make

I actually used to come up 100% introverted, but my people-tolerance has been increasing over the past five years.

And boy, does this page [typelogic.com] on typelogic.com get me right. As I read that page, I just nodded and said to myself, "Yep. Uh-huh. Yeah. Starting to feel that way at work. Yes. Right." Interesting company I keep, too: Alfred, Lord Tennyson; Queen Elizabeth II; not too sure about Queen "Bloody" Mary I, though.

For the record, I'm just barely an S: 1%, according to the linked test. Which may be a good thing. According to typelogic.com, if I were an INFJ, I'd be in the company o

To put those results in perspective, I've been accused of being a Vulcan for being so calmly rational at times.

It may look like that from your little INTJ Clubhouse, but I can have my posse of ISTJs mobilized in 5 minutes, and then you will rue the day you dared to underestimate our awesome power. Bah!

  • Still an ENTP. I guess that's a rare breed from what I hear. I took that test at the career center here at work, and came up with the same results. My manager's an ENTJ, we get along great. :)

My life has a consistent theme that can be broken down into three easy to follow steps:
    • Everything is methodical
    • Everything changes
    • Indifference is true evil.

Most people don't agree, but it's gotten me this far so I think it's fairly stable.

Just for comparison, the general population is only 25% introverts. It's not that suprising that there are so many on here, because there tend to be more in science and technology anyway. (Actually, the textbook I got this info out of is specific to IT, and it claims that 3/4 of IT people are introverts.)

This Page [personalitypage.com] pretty well sums it up. It describes me to a 'T', me and the other 1% of the population who are INFJ's. Any others out there? I was kinda surprised that (even in this small /. sampling) no one else had chimed in yet with this type.

    • I was kinda surprised that (even in this small /. sampling) no one else had chimed in yet with this type.
Your description says you are rare. But we already knew that. :-)

But, according to this [typelogic.com] our types are pretty close... I would have thought you were more outgoing, though. Maybe that's just on slashdot. Do you consider yourself introverted?

      • ... I would have thought you were more outgoing, though. Maybe that's just on slashdot. Do you consider yourself introverted?

Introverted, no. Extroverted, no. How about Juxtaverted. I just try maintaining a balence between the two, and enjoying the myriad of grey area between the two extremes.

        • Juxtaverted.
          Nice word. ;-)

Don't misunderstand, I love quiet time as much as the next person, but I really enjoy people.

        • Introverted/Extroverted isn't meant in the vernacular sense. It is quite possible to be an Introvert on the Briggs-Myers typology, yet extroverted in everyday life. The Introvert/Extrovert dichotomy is supposed to be how you "define" yourself (roughly speaking).

An introvert will consult themselves before they consult another person, whereas an extrovert wouldn't. At least thats what I figure. But, I'm not a pop-psychologist.
