Journal SolemnDragon's Journal: a retching wench works in the wretched wrench works 13

I give up.

I can't even tell what's because of what any more.

My average symptoms include nausea (from blood pressure shifts), muscle and joint aches, and fevers.

Today, i have aches, a fever, and couldn't keep breakfast down this morning.

I could have the flu. It HAS been going around.

On the other hand, i'm in a flare (which brings lots of aching and fevers) and had a heart episode this morning (which brings serious nausea.)

I give up, i tell you!!!!! I can't even guess any more!

This strikes me as hysterically funny, for some reason. I mean, there really IS something to be said for having a life that the flu can't even make a dent in.

*RAWR*

*flexes muscles, then quietly curls up in corner*

i had a dream last night. (hence the bad headline above.) I dreamt that i worked in a wrench factory, and was late for work because of a whole long story... *sigh* so there i am, realising that i'm late for work (in my dream), and have to leave to go make wrenches. I turn to my mum.

"I'm late! I think i'm supposed to be working today! I have to call them! What's the number?"

her: "How can you not know the number of your work?"

me: "BECAUSE I ONLY WORK THERE IN THIS DREAM, and only found out about THAT just now!"

I'm not sure what i did at the wrench factory, i think that it involved inspecting wrenches or some such. They were awfully shiny.

I think that any day that starts with bad dreams about wrenches followed by throwing up should be a day i get to stay home in bed. Alas, this is not the case, so here i am. Sans wrenches, which is still funny to me. I mean, i don't think i've ever had a dream about those before.

By the way- the winner of the 'who gets the world' poll is... tuxette! Who could beat me up with one little toe, even if i were aimed with a socket wrench.

Discussion: talk to me about wrenching nightmares, or flu, your choice.

  • And here I was feeling sorry for myself because I can't train tonight (darn bird flu). I also have to go to the eye doc tomorrow, and I'll probably have to get lasered or something, since I'm sure I blew out both retinas with all the sneezing I've been doing lately...:-/

Anyway wrenching bird flu dreams... quite a few lately. I always get strange dreams when I'm down with something. I rarely remember any of them though. That's probably a good thing...
  • tuxette could not possibly get the world, because it is in fact already MINE.

Meanwhile, as for disturbing nightmares, I once dreamt that I was not, in fact, Lord and Master of Pretty Much All. Scary, I know.

I hereby command you to feel better and offer you this shiny virtual tiara to speed your recovery.

    Supremely yours,

    Ethelred

    • Lord and Master of Pretty Much All

See - there's your problem. You're not the "Lord and Master of All", merely "Lord and Master of Pretty Much All". You've left a tiny opening for an enterprising penguinette to gain a toe-hold...
  • All praise to thee, Dragon of Boston, for thy strength against the mighty flu is profound.

Perhaps you've actually just stumbled upon the cure for the flu, but the symptoms are a bitch.

Feel better soon Sol. There are peasants in dire need of a bricking.
  • I have two kids, both sick with the flu right now. Because of the flu we have had to delay signing the contract on the house, we have delayed talking to a mortgage broker, and we have gotten behind in just about everything we need to do. I have to paint the interior of the house - so far, in a week's time, I have managed to paint ONE room - the half-bath.

So far I have fended off the flu, and I hope I can continue to do so.

  • Purple Bricks [flickr.com]. Spotted that one while surfing... Made me think of you.
  • Hope you feel better soon. Maybe you were visualizing all the little white dragons in your bloodstream pounding the beejesus out of the barbarous invaders with pipe wrenchs. ;-)
    • socket wrenches, actually.

      They were socket wrenches.

I'm sure that this says something meaningful about me (like that i fix more things with socket wrenches than pipe wrenches) but i'm also sure that it was a very silly dream.

      • but i'm also sure that it was a very silly dream.

Yes it was, but most dreams are silly when you stop and look at them. The only thing I can take from this is the sincere hope that there is no such thing as a brick socket attachment for that wrench. The damage that could ensue when coupled with one of the several forms of brick kata out there could be awe inspiring.

Lately I have been exhausted. No cause that I can figure out at all. Everything is roughly the same, no big changes. I was out on Monday an
  • I had a nightmare with Tomble in it, but that was its only saving grace. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be having more nightmares, anyhow, since they're a constant of my existence. I have so far managed to avoid getting influenza, or even HPH5N1, the so-called "bird flu," jesus, as if almost all flu didn't vector from birds anyhow. Very fucking funny, hoi polloi, especially since I've been watching this one since probably 2001. Call me back if you're bleeding from the mouth, ok? And then stay the hell aw
  • had a dream about my bike breaking down - does that count as a wrenching nightmare?
  • Have had all of the ones you mentioned because I went off Klonopin this week (my choice, not the doc's). I too am having problems figuring out which symptoms are due to Sjogren's/fibromyalgia and which might be something else.

I've been having nightmares about either going back to college while I'm ill or trying to return to the workforce while ill. Guess I must be stressed about trying to get disability benefits.

Nice to be able to reply again. My computer crashed and I had to change browsers.

Some people manage by the book, even though they don't know who wrote the book or even what book.
