What's up with all this coverage about Borat? I'd never heard of it until last week. Now I've got people wanting to show me video clips, and I hear there's been a TV show for five years. Oh, and the actor who played him got beat up the other day.

  • I have never heard of it, up until this very moment ... but then, I've never been a big follower of Kazhakstani television

  • I reckon the coverage he's getting now is mostly because a national government got upset over his parody and took down his .kz(?) website.

    The actor basically has three characters that he uses to interview/blindside people. Sometimes the people are good humored (Bhutros Bhutros Ghali interviewed by Ali-G seem to humor it. Others get visibly angry)

    His main character Ali-G, has a movie. I think the Borat movie is more of a result of the fracas caused by the Kazakh government.

  • the dane im'ed me, told me i had to watch it because of the toothless wonders and bigots. i told him i deal with stupid people every day, there's no reason to want to pay $9 to see them on the movie screen.
