Journal Short Circuit's Journal: Cars, Computers and Sleep, oh my. 7

Further problems with my car...it lost 3 quarts of oil over the course of a week. Now when I check it, the oil is cleaner than after an oil change at a Valvoline station. I had to shell out $25 for a new case of oil, and I'm examining my options for buying a new(er) vehicle.

Also in the news...I've completely what's likely to be my last major software update for months. It took downloading 160MB of Debian packages, but now that Debian Sarge is "Stable," I don't expect to have to go through huge downloads so often.

I went to bed around 1 AM last night, and woke up at 1:30PM this afternoon. I was pissed, and resolved to start using alarm clocks on the weekends. Sleep and dreams of adventure are nice and all...

...but they won't save you a bunch of money on your car insurance.

  • im sendign you a letter to respond to a beautiful new porche from God had rode past you but it had been given the wrong tires and the tires blew out causing much distress. now they have been refitted. yet the passer by can't even see it still is a porshe!!
  • My brother's car had a cracked engine block. He had to add a litre or more of oil each time he gassed up.

    Then he left to go back-packing in Europe for three months. While he was gone, someone stole his car. The thief didn't know that you needed to add oil with each fill-up. The oil ran dry. The car was a write-off. The insurance paid out. My brother's backpacking trip was extended to one year.
    • Did he have PL/PD, or full coverage?

      Besides, there's probably something illegal about intentionally leaving my car where it would be stolen. But it would be something of a releif.
      • Full coverage I assume. I wasn't suggesting any particular course of action -- just an interesting related story
        • If he was reimbursed for a stolen vehicle, then comprehensive coverage is pretty much a given.

          W/r to leaving in a place that it's likely to be stolen, proving that was your intent is rather difficult unless someone can prove that you left it parked, windows down doors unlocked, keys in the ignition with a giant 'Hey, steal this car' sign on the dash.
