Journal Shadow Wrought's Journal: Guitar Hero II 6

I got to play Guitar Hero II with my youngest stepson at the store for a little bit. I must say that I have absolutely no idea how this game is the least bit popular.* It is by far the dumbest,** most useless,*** and annoying game I have ever played.**** The controls aren't intuitive,***** and its little more than a giant crapfest****** designed to sell hardware.******* I wouldn't spend a dime on it.********

* Well it was frustrating...

** But I have absolutely no musical ability whatsoever

*** Literally, none.

**** In fact, I've lost the beat whilst clapping to hymns at church- with hundreds of others!

***** And I just couldn't get my fingers to push the buttons they were supposed to.

****** Even though my stepson was blazing through without really trying.

******* Not that I'm bitter.

******** Much.

  • Guitar Hero III rocks! 8^) Maybe it is because I used to play guitar, but I love the game. The controllers are expensive (but then again, so are the current generation of video games) and the "downloadable content" is just a scam to bilk millions of users out of more money, but I have to confess to loving playing the game. I'm currently taking a break from playing it atm in fact. ;^)
    • I'm sure my lack of music ability and or coordination are to blame for the bitterness;-) My stepsons and their friends all love it and have a great time playing it. When I went with one of stepsons to an Anime convention they had a game area set-up and everyone, young and old, were all over the GH area.

      Then again, I can find much enjoyment just watching airplanes land and take-off, which most people look at either askance, or akin to watching paint dry. So, needless to say, I know I'm not the target au

  • I received Guitar Hero III for Christmas and I was really surprised at how much I like it. I am tone deaf and have no sense of rhythm (as in, I don't even attempt the Electric Slide, a dance anyone should be able to do.) but I'm not bad at it.

    Of course, it did take me a a few days to get not bad and I've yet to hit 100% of the notes like arb seems to do fairly often, but I have fun with it. The first day I had it I thought I wasn't going to like it at all, but Robert seemed to be having so much fun with i

    • No! Not Hope! I like being a bitter old coot;-) I know given time I could probably train my fingers to do what they're supposed to, but I'm just not naturally inclined in that way. So I have great respect for musicians and those musically inclined, even if I am occasionally a tad bitter;-)
