Comment Correlation != Causation. (Score 1) 187

The vaccines have had far less of an impact than we've been led to believe, but without a double blind study (which we won't get), we'll never be able to know that. Viral mutations become more contagious and less dangerous with each variant, and the vaccines have less and less effect on them.

Covid, in all its forms, is here to stay. Wringing hands and mandating health choices won't change that. Learn to live with it in whatever way seems best to you, and allow others that same right.

Comment Doesn't anyone understand how viruses work? (Score 2) 262

Mutations are always more contagious and less dangerous than their predecessors. Covid, and it's mutations, are proving that again.

It's like we've intentionally forgotten all we know from a century or more of studying virology. Is there a reason other than politics to explain this?

This is actually the first Omicron fatality - anywhere - I've seen reported.

Why aren't doctors telling us the truth about viral mutation - that mutated strains tend to be less and less powerful?

Maybe because politicians control the narrative, which is sustained by their ability to cause panic in the far-too-compliant masses.

Comment Do you remember before Covid? (Score 1) 170

Did you fear getting sick every time you went where people were? No. If someone was very sick, we told them to stay away from healthy people, especially vulnerable ones.

And that's for good reason. A reason many people have been programmed to forget about. We have a need to be social, and we have immune systems to deal with what happens when we do. Hiding out from society to avoid illness is a terrible way to live.

A ship is safe in a harbor, but that's not what ships were built for.

I agree that the mildness (has anyone anywhere actually died of this yet?) is grounds for a similar level of (dis)concern, but your reasoning skills are somewhat incomplete. But to assume that the vaccine was the savior here is actually more concerning.

Other possibilities that might explain why only vaxed people are getting Omicron:
1) It's interacting with the vaccine in some way we don't know about yet.
2) Unvaxed people are getting it, but the symptoms are so mild they don't care to report it.
3) Unvaxed people have healthy enough immune systems that they aren't getting it.
4) Vaxed people are more likely to report ANY sickness to a medical professional.

And very probably others as well.

Never ceases to amaze me how people have been programmed to believe that only a vaccine can prevent you from getting sick.

We have these things we're born with, and spend our lives in a symbiotic relationship with. They're called immune systems. You should check them out while yours still might be able to function on its own.

I remember reading a story several years ago about how they created a system that allowed people to attend an in-person wedding virtually, sort of like a zoom meeting, only years before zoom was a thing.

Guests would upload an avatar, choose their "seat", be able to see and interact with the people also attending virtually, see the event live, even send a gift. They sold out of their capacity in a short period of time. It was (and would still be) a cheap way for people to attend a destination wedding.

Name one great nation built on a socialistic economic model. I mean one with a good human rights record, too.

Comment Welcome to How Viruses Work (Score 1) 480

Mutations are part of the life of a virus. Each one has to become more contagious to survive, because they become less dangerous as they mutate. There will be others, but they'll be even less of an event, if the scaremongers in the media will let them be.

The only thing we have to fear is government telling us to be afraid of something not worthy of our fear.
