Even with enterprise level Samsung drives, the cost per drive is almost half that! Just crazy. And the only version that ssd's a make difference for are very underpowered for what you would have to pay for the ssds. It's a complete joke. I have 6 8tb evos in my ds620+slim and it cost nearly half that as well. Just terrible decision for a company who can be replaced. Their spinning hdds are somewhat more reasonable but I have specific brands I like and that they don't use(I've had too many seagates go bad on me early).

HP builds multi-function machines as well, the scanners SHOULD position them for doing well transitioning from a printed world to an exclusively digital one, but the software they provide for scanning is wholly inadequate. They don't even include OCR with their scanning software.

If you have to individualize the Qcode, the cost to continue to include a human-readable date is trivial so why not both? But if you do remove the human-readable date, at least have a scanner right by the fridge so I don't have to use my own phone and data.
