I generally believe the end-users should decide what is installed on their computer. But most OS vendors do not offer full customization.

That's true, but a) that's crappy and b) they used to offer more, and the actually good OSes used to offer a lot more and still do. Unixes and Unixlikes other than OSX still generally allow you to install pretty small subsets of the OS.

You claim you can read but you still wrote that after reading my comment. Are you a bot? No, wait, even a bot wouldn't have come to that conclusion about what I wrote, which was about the opposite of what you pretended it was about so that you could pretend to have a valid argument, as usual.

On the flip side your portable allows you to step outside of the car and actually get reception.

Yeah, let me just step out of my car and listen to this report on where I'm supposed to drive while I'm on the highway with thousands of other people, you fucking muppet.

Also you're conflating an emergency plan with a nice to have.

You're conflating your unrealistic bullshit with a valid argument.

A working phone is also useful in an emergency. That doesn't mean there should be any consideration to having this be part of your plan or codified in any law.

Again, you are a fucking muppet, we already have laws like that. For example the laws which have protected access to POTS phones for people in remote locations which the telcos are now trying to get out of despite the obvious public safety interest so they can save a dollar. And that is exactly like the automakers taking away AM radio on a specious basis because they want to save a few dollars per vehicle. Fuck them and fuck your disingeuous corporate cocksucking behavior. It's embarrassing to see you do it every time.

Its great that people have an option to delete the model...fine. But keep in mind that they are saving somewhere between $1.32 and $6.00 depending on how much they pay for SSD storage.

Oh look, this misleading bullshit was posted by someone whose name begins with "mac", what a shocker. Apple devices overwhelmingly don't have socketed storage (that is, almost none of them do any more) and they charge far more than the average for storage, and the average has gone up a lot to boot.

More importantly, your OS vendor shouldn't be pushing bullshit you didn't want and don't need and makes your system less secure without your permission. That's some Microsoft shit. Apple is no better than Microsoft now.

For once this is a happy story about AI which occurred through the user's ignorance. They were stupid enough to think they wouldn't get reported because they were talking to an automated system.

In a first world country this either would be a story about a woman being reported to the police for a threat by their therapist, or it wouldn't have happened in the first place, because she would have access to mental health care instead of trivial access to firearms despite being mentally incompetent.

The code is AGPL'd. If they don't have another mechanism for distributing the code to anyone entitled to receive it then kinda: closing the repo isn't illegal, but not observing the license is unlawful, and grounds for legal action.

People evacuating benefit from information on evacuation, like which routes are viable. This can change while in transit, and the cell phone network goes to shit when it's leaned on at all so you need a broadcast radio information source. So yes, they fucking well do.
