I can't speak to the level of radiation of uranium nukes, but I can say that every container headed towards the US is now put through a radiation portal monitor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation_Portal_Monitor that detects a wide range of radiation. The DOE is pretty extensive in their tests with a wide range of test objects that emit various types of radiation. The program was (is?) called the SLD (second line of defense) and put these scanners at every foreign port where US shipments are loaded. I was personally at a number of these port installing support equipment so I saw them in action. Any box that tripped an alarm, like a box full of bananas, would be opened or scanned with xray to confirm the load matched the manifest. As per the specific radiation being detected, again I don't know, but a quick google search shows that enriched uranium as common for dirty bombs due to it being easier to manufacturer, etc. And since SLD was primarily designed to look for dirty bombs I am assuming this type was built into the detectors.

Exactly right except the IBM Deskstars. Those disks were absolutely unstoppable until they sold off their goods to fujitsu. I'm sure we'll say the same about the Thinkpads. :(

My IBM Deskstar 1.7G was one of the fastest drives of its class (if not the fastest) and it lasted me up until the present. That's almost NINE YEARS! :O Insane! Unthinkable that this drive is so bad now that they're called the Deathstars... :P

Journal Journal: Mod points do not exist.

See topic. Meta-modding will do you no good. You will not gain mod points. Be aware, get used to it. It will likely never change...

Journal Journal: Was totally lovin' this before blogger... ;)

Strange, i was actually updating my slashdot journal before blogger came along...

Journal Journal: STi doin' well...

Got the car all fixed up on friday. Got it lower than before but no real rubbing unless doing tight corners (and even then it's just the plastic fender liners.) Very pleased with the new tires. Very grippy.

Next up is getting my gauge and bov installed. Friggin' flange on the bov - can't use it with my current intercooler. :P May have to buy a second one and swap the flange. The bov I got is in pretty good shape...

Journal Journal: New tires - rubbin', rollin', and slammin'

Hmmm... turns out my tires were hitting my fenders. Cracked my fender paint on driver's-side. :( Rear camber bolts were purchased and installed. 1.5hrs for first side, 3min for the second. :P

Journal Journal: Latest on the STi 1

Got an HKS SSQV bov for my ver5 STi today but the damn thing won't fit (flange-wise). What a pain. Now I have to try to track down the flange that fits or get one fabbed. :( weak.

Eagerly awaiting my Greddy a-pillar gauge pod and HKS exhaust silencer. Got my Apexi boost gauge ready and waiting. Oh, and this gc8 air-splitter is takin' forever to get here!
