There are a lot of "interesting" gifts I see on places like Facebook. Geek gifts like Christmas sweaters that say things like "This is the exact thing for a spreadsheet, or "Chernobyl Safety Team 1986. Or incredibly cute cat cartoons selling T-Shirts. In a heavily battened down computer, the link won't be opened if you click on them. Most computers will open.

There's something extra in the images if you drag them to the desktop. Still looking into what.

Pisses me off, I would have liked a Chernobyl Safety team or spreadsheet sweater!

it was cool to watch in vr, a novelty. i haven't watched any sequel. i'm not sure, maybe i did watch avatar 2, but don't remember a single thing about it.

my sister absolutely loved it. the magical forest, the creatures and all that. she has a hippie vibe, and that part wasn't bad. she had watched it in an imax theater but had me download it and drove 70km to my place to go through the whole thing again with the headset, in one sitting, while i cooked some sauerkraut. she was delighted. horses for courses.

Sounds like she's a nice lady, doing all that.

I tried three times to watch it. Fell asleep each time. Boring. I suppose blue alien boobs was titillating for some, and it made a lot of money, but I never had any reason to watch the sequels.

Your Overton window has shifted to the right far enough that what you see as centered is, by measure of the vast majority of the world, far-right. What we see in this country as left, is seen by the rest of the world as slightly-right. We do have some extreme wierdos on both sides, but overall we are a conservative nation by global standards.

One of the more appalling things I've seen in the US on this stuff is people saying "Well actors are so well paid why should we care". The thing is theres a very very tiny number of actors that are paid well, the stars. But the vast majority, and the ones currently being sold by the AI firms as being replacable by AI, are background actors and bitpart actors and these are the guys who MIGHT be getting $30K a year if they are in regular work, and more likely far far less

One of the interesting things that comes to mind, after the extreme far left lurch of Hollywood in recent years, is why the big stars that make millions per film, do not agitate for better pay for those that get paid only a pittance. I mean, they should be all about income equity, one would think.

People will often pick a movie or tv show because of one or more actors in it, because they enjoy their work. Some shows with a bunch of no-names succeed, but let's be honest, star power is a thing. If you steal that star power from actors, what do they have left?

Same as the rest of us, I suppose.

I think that these "stars" should be very concerned. Because already the ones that exist now, have a "last generation" vibe going on. Unless they somehow make it illegal to use AI actors at all, when they die out, so does the "star concept". They'll age out, and few if any new will come along.

Can you point to the place that I wrote that you must tip at 100 percent? I wrote that my tipping level - which I use as a way to get some-money in the hands of those who might not be as fortunate, results in some element of gratitude.

But since we're here, does your Your esteemed Japanese restaurant - which you seem to believe gives you the same level of service I get at 100 percent tipping Do they watch for you, and have your drinks and table ready before you get there?

Do they do extra for you? It really isn't the same thing. Regular tippers get regular service.
