Alright I did some testing in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera (all latest versions)

simple link, with a SHY character in the link. Depending on the format of the link (with a http, or without), All 4 browser did the exact thing we expected them to do : The link either showed the hyphen and linked to a hyphened page correctly (when I say "Showed", I mean, that if you mouse-over the link, you see the hyphen in the task bar) or just didn't show it and didn't link to a hyphened page.

So, I don't see the problem in here... i call this FUD.

The summary is completely misleading! The earthquake in "Quebec"? Do you mean Quebec city, 500+ km north-east of Ottawa? Or you mean "Quebec Province"? But that is pretty big (many times the size of France).

And why would you compare the position of a Province to a City??

That is just wrong. The epicenter was in Buckingham, 60km north of Ottawa.

CuteSteveJobs writes with a followup to news we discussed on Saturday of a disagreement between Amazon and Macmillan Publishers over ebook pricing: "Amazon has thrown in the towel and announced it will now sell books at Macmillan's increased prices; up to $14.99 from $9.99. Said Amazon in a statement: 'We will have to capitulate and accept Macmillan's terms because Macmillan has a monopoly over their own titles, and we will want to offer them to you even at prices we believe are needlessly high for e-books.' Macmillan has sensed Apple's iBooks opens the way for higher prices. Perhaps the question should be: do we even need publishers like Macmillian? Publishers have long managed to keep their old business model chugging along nicely despite the Internet; Academics are still forced to give up copyright (PDF) of their work in exchange for publication. Textbook publishers have a history of unethical practices like frequent edition changes, unjustifiable price increases and bribing teachers. For that matter, why do the RIAA's members still control the music business? Why do these dinosaur publishing businesses still manage to thrive despite the Internet?"

My girlfriend has an HP laptop and bought it at around 800$ a year and a half ago. It has an HD-DVD. She never used it (except for reading standard DVD). Does she still count toward this idiot statistic? Likewise, how many have HD-DVD discs around? Just for myself, I have way more blu-ray than all my friends have HD-DVD (even if you remove my PS3 games). Crazy, uh?

You can do whatever you want. You don't have an EULA with the enterprise program. Apple told us so when we were looking to reverse some API to obtain cell towers informations. We wanted to be legit and know Apple's opinion; they told us we could do it with their enterprise program, but we'd be limited to iPhones which have the correct certificate (registered with the iPhone enterprise manager).
