Not only shameful, but also damaging. The USA have essentially relinquished their leadership role in the West, after already relinquishing their leadership role in the world (e.g. by cancelling USAID - other powers like China, Russia or the wealthier Arabic states will be happy to step in where they haven't already).

I'm not sure if Trump and Vance had orchestrated the public humiliation of an allied guest asking for help together, or if Vance simply knew which of Trump's buttons to push.

Either way, to the rest of the world this means that the USA are no longer a reliable ally. They will not only try to dominate economically and politically as they have in the past, but demand complete and unconditional submission and are also unwilling to enter any obligations in return.

Perhaps the goal is to become at least as unattractive an ally as Russia has been for the last 25 years?

So you just need to substitute "photon" for "object" in your question and take into account that it moves at light speed, and then you have the answer.

Actually, fruit is derived from the Latin fructus which means sweet. If they don't want it to mean this, they need to pick a different word. Tomatoes are vegetables.

Except it doesn't mean anything related to "sweet"? Fructus means fruit in a _very_ wide sense, not even constrained to food.
