Comment Carbon Tax (Score 1) 275

I find the deliberate altering of the atmosphere with aluminium and barium much more egregious than the normal output of carbon. http://www.geoengineeringwatch... The elites that want to set up the carbon exchanges will certainly exempt themselves from a carbon taxing scheme. It is an agenda to track all human behaviours by pricing all activities in carbon credits which will be tracked by some super-governmental agency that will not be affected by democratic edict. A taxing scheme that makes you pay an indulgence just for breathing to an entity that is immune from democratic input from your elected government is not something I can get behind. You are implicitly bad because you are a carbon based life form so pay them an indulgence and you will be forgiven. Sounds like they learned a thing or two from the holy roman empire. This site http://scienceandpublicpolicy.... discusses many of the other aspects of the AGW issue. Being conservative with energy consumption is a good practice. Using more than you need just because is not and should not be criminal. It is just common decency not to be wasteful.

It does not matter what the form it takes. Lethal force in the form of a hand held mechanism is not going anywhere. It is here to stay. Sometimes the only appropriate answer to someone trying to do harm is to shoot 'em dead. It isn’t just cops that should realize this. If you are of the capable capacity you should consider being armed for you and your community's sake. When seconds count the police are only minutes away.

By itself a count of votes is meaningless. When compared against other data is when it becomes valuable and can help detect discrepancy. The method I stated would work because at voter registration an identifier similar to your bitcoin address would be issued to the voter and would be required among other verifications to login to vote. This would create two copies of the same record. One at creation retained at the county clerk's office (100% of registered) and one when cast( % of people who vote). 100% of voters are unlikely to vote so if you didn't vote and you query your address and you voted, then you know that the jig is up and someone is lying. This would also take care of the multiple same person voting problem. It does strengthen the integrity of the count. I didn't say that it is the great savior of the failed voting system and it of itself is the key. It is an additional audit tool for contested elections and does not require that we just trust someone. Anyone with an internet connection could audit it. During a contested election you could supoena the clerk's office for the original registered list and compare it to the cast vote record. Somehow 130% of voters turned out this time. No way to know what happened there. Tinfoil hat man says that blockchain could stop that. What a kook. As far as trusting the voting machines goes, Bev Harris is the authority on that. http://blackboxvoting.org/

It is a very easy problem to solve. You just don't want it solved or you don't understand blockchain technology or you want to introduce misconceptions about it to people that do not understand it. You logging into the voting machine is recorded when you vote. Information about who you voted for is not recorded. There is a distributed record so you don't have believe on faith that the 1 person with the 1 list is being honest.

Check out the case of Dr. Laura Pressley vs Travis County. 2 of the 3 legal requirements were not met in tabulation. Blockchain in addition to the 3 requirements would be another way to verify that votes cast equals votes counted. There was some questionable counting going on in addition to the other things. All of you nay sayers dismiss this. How is having an accurate count in addition to the other safeguards a bad thing? Because tinfoil hat. Sweet argument. http://www.pressleyforaustin.c...

Submission + - Academics build a new Tor client designed to beat the NSA (dailydot.com)

An anonymous reader writes: In response a slew of new research about network-level attacks against Tor, academics from the U.S. and Israel built a new Tor client called Astoria designed to beat adversaries like the NSA, GCHQ, or Chinese intelligence who can monitor a user's Tor traffic from entry to exit. Astoria differs most significantly from Tor's default client in how it selects the circuits that connect a user to the network and then to the outside Internet. The tool is an algorithm designed to more accurately predict attacks and then securely select relays that mitigate timing attack opportunities for top-tier adversaries.
