Yeesh, that was a cold ride in today...

Anyway, I have mod points and not much to do with them. The JE'ers have mostly split for Multiply (I simply can't stand reading lengthy non-threaded forums, and generally I find it has lousy usability, plus everyone has new nicks there), I've been mostly laying off the front page stories and when I did take a look there, there's basically nothing of interest that has enough posts to bother moderating.

The one exception is the "Speed of Light Exceeded?" story (brilliant comment from the editor: "This research was published in Nature, so presumably it was peer-reviewed.") but it'll take some working up of nerve before I venture into those comments...

    I just don't like it. And I'm mostly not interested in the videos, photos, and music that are generally regarded as "enhancements". It also seems to have changed what people are writing about, and I find it less worth reading.

          Not that I am a troll (often :-) ) but see thats how I ended up not getting mod points anymore; good ol' tellin' it like it is, karmabedamned. For awhile I was hoping they would give them to me just to shut me up, but that didn't work either.

        I get modpoints approximately every fortnight. :P Sometimes I just let them lapse.
  • all you have to do is change the settings to display comments in threaded form. i did that once and it's stayed threaded for me ever since.

      You mean here or on Multiply? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it in Multiply; I can hardly figure out how to do anything over there. It's dumbed-down like how the Slashbots claim Macs are, where it's trivial to do the five things they want you to do, and nothing else.

        when i view an entry on multiply, between the body and the comments there is a line that says, "view comments: chronological reverse threaded." just click on the choice you want. it should remember your choice for all other entries.

        of course, some people don't reply to the comment they're answering and just use the default box at the bottom. but for the most part people reply responsibly.
