Why hasn't Sam Altman been arrested yet?
Why is OpenAI allowed to continue to operate?
Clearly it's a criminal organization.

Honestly... Since when reshuffling in a company's upper management is of any interest to anybody other than the people working for that individual at that company?
What next? They're gonna replace Bob at accounting because he didn't use AI to format his Excel sheets?
Sorry to break it to you, but in something as latency-demanding as iRacing we notice the 16.67 ms added by switching FFB modes. Adding over 70 ms for video encoding and decoding latency is horrendous. At 300 km/h / 186.4 mph you will travel 6.25 m / 20.5 feet in 75 ms. Heh. That's an eternity.
You're talking about rendering done by the app. I am talking about these devices taking what has already been rendered by the app, encoding it with a video codec, and decoding it at the other end with a video codec, and playing that back for you. It is a completely separate and unnecessary set of two operations.
Wrong. Someone objectively measured the latency with electronic equipment. The latency is objectively bad. I use my VR headset for racing cars in iRacing. The cable is irrelevant to me. I want a low-latency VR headset, which this thing is not. You have no idea what you are talking about, as much as you think you do. The latency of this thing is over 70 ms. We specifically avoid doing things that add a mere 16.67 ms because we are affected by it. We've tested both ways extensively, and the extra 16.67 ms is noticed in blind testing. It matters. Adding over 70 ms is not desirable in any way, nor would it go unnoticed. Maybe *you* wouldn't be affected by it with whatever you may choose to do with your VR headset. *I* would be affected by it with whatever I choose to do with my VR headset. And what I choose to do is fast-paced and very latency-affected.
And unfortunately, this is not that. For PC usage they seem to be doing the same thing that Meta foolishly did. They turned it into a video codec system that encodes video on the PC, streams that to the device, and the device decodes it and then displays it. Encoding and decoding via video codecs take time. That means the latency is going to be horrible, just like it is with current Meta video players. Gamers Nexus showed latency numbers for the Steam Frame, and while it is better than the Meta crap, it is still crap itself. I just want a nice VR headset for my PC. My PC can already run games. I just need a display device to connect to it. Hopefully the RAM/storage crisis will have them develop a "dumb" version that's just a regular ass VR headset. I'd buy one of those. I ain't buying this video playback device.
a doozie to debug
What the hell is that? Is that a salesman in PC-speak?
His podcast Better Offline is squarely targeted at people who are very much online. Indeed his entire gig is the epitome of online living.
If Ed Zitron really felt better offline, he wouldn't be making a living off of a podcast and constant AI bashing.
Not that I necessarily disagree with him though... It's just that the messenger doesn't really befit the message.
If even he thinks AI is dubious, you know AI is bad news.
Lol

This is the blandest, most watered-down way to say "lost their job" yet. Quite nauseating.
> Meta doesn't really know how to do anything else with any skill.
They don't know how to do Facebook very well either: it's been pretty much stagnant and enshittified to death for the past 22 years, and it feels like a forum for greying people whose greying friends haven't bothered to move on either, or to get the date of the next annual meeting of the bridge club.
one of those companies whose sole purpose seems to be annoying you by slapping their name as a watermark on a generic image you'd like to use in a meme, and force to spend 10 seconds finding somewhere else because you were never going to pay a stupid company to remove their mark on a bad picture you can find everywhere.
I wonder how those companies still exist, let alone make any money.
Anyway, the modern way to use copyrighted photos for free is to ask stable diffusion to regenerate it, because the AI companies have done all the data stealing for you and repackaged the stolen data into "models" you can use for free.
