The younger generations have been conditioned to be frightened of life, even though life is easier and longer and more comfortable than it ever has been. The government likes the fear because then they can push the myth that they are going to "take care" of them and make the bad things go away. You see it a lot even in the older middle aged generations here on Slashdot. They want they government to step in and "take care" of problems. It is very apparent in the reaction to COVID: people place responsibility on it to the politicians. It is irrational, but many generations of conditioning has led us to this. Similar to the solution to "Climate Change". The solution always is bigger government, more taxes, more money.
