What he did was wrong. Totally wrong. Who uses their own login to run tests against? Didn't he read BOFH? The BOFH would have a dummy local account on some critical server that auto-disables every 6 months. If the innocuous automated script running from some antique piece of hardware finds that this account has been disabled for more than 30 days, then it triggers a system event that another chron job on a different server is checking every other weekend which fires off a file-based task that runs a script in a different scripting language which writes to another event log that triggers a compiled agent running on the backup server, and then ...

I was at a (not huge corp) company where these two points happened. Our company went through the process, and hired the Indian H1B holder and he got his green card. Three months later he quit with 10-days notice, stating that he had a job offer that was higher than what he was being paid while he was working under his H1B, and 50% higher than what we were paying him (which was 50% higher than his H1B salary). H1B in Tech has been a scam for more than 25 years.

Meanwhile in the PNW the pundits are calling the incoming weather storm "Juneuary", as we're expecting up to 2" of rain on the same day as this astronomical event. They are calling it an "atmospheric river" coming at us at the same time as this amazing planetary alignment.

I believe that there is a lot of the isekai material in Thomas Covenant that they'd have to figure a way to tone down to make it work for modern TV.

And don't forget all the mental dialog/reflection, psychological anguish, and downright f-ed-up-edness in the storyline.

Back in olden-times when I was student at least a semester of "Typing Class" was required if you wanted to take a programming related class. Students who just wanted to learn about computers did the minimum, and anyone who wanted to take programming classes (BASIC & PASCAL) all did at least a full year. ~rbs
