Submission + - Minecraft Ported To The Raspberry Pi 1

An anonymous reader writes: The amusing “but does it run Crysis?” question has a cousin: “but does it run Minecraft?” The makers of Raspberry Pi can now officially say that yes, yes it does. Called Minecraft: Pi Edition, the latest flavor of the popular game carries “a revised feature set” and “support for several programming languages,” so you can code directly into Minecraft before or after you start playing. That means you can build structures in the traditional Minecraft way, but you can also break open the code and use a programming language to manipulate things in the game world.

Submission + - Japan: Police arrest "anti DRM" journalists... (wired.it)

Modellismo writes: Last week 4 journalists from SANSAI BOOKS have been arrested for selling, through the company website, a copy of a magazine published last year (with a free cover mounted disc) focused on how to backup/rip DVDs. They violated Japan's Unfair Competition Prevention Law that recently has been revised to make illegal the sale of any DRM circumvention device or software.

It's interesting to note that Japanese cyber Police could arrest the Amazon Japan CEO too as the online giant is selling a lot of magazines, books and software packages for DVD copy and ripping: exactly what put in trouble Sansai Books staff.

Will Japanese Cyber Police raid Amazon Japan offices like they have done with Sansai Books?!

It will be released next spring in the Otona no Kagaku (in Japanese it means "Science toys for adults") magazine series with a Persistence of Vision plastic Toy with color LEDs. The price tag will be less than 3500 yen (ca$35) and it will make the Japanese Arduino scene the biggest in the World as in a couple of months the magazine will probably sell what the original Arduino sold worldwide in the last years.
