This made me wonder- I haven't heard of anyone publicly breaking or bypassing the Xbox One (or later) encryption yet. Is it the only major console still standing, or am I just way behind on my news? (I know the Xbox 360 and earlier were broken already.)
I'm reminded of Slack's post from 2016: https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fslack.com%2Fblog%2Fnews%2Fde...
I wonder if they'd write the same thing today.
It seems that Epic has a monopoly on "skins" and "dances" in their games. Why am I not allowed to sell my own skins and dances? They should open up their game to allow me to sell ones I create - and no, they can't take a percentage either. Seems not much different than what they are asking for.
With Apple iOS devices you have to grant permission for an app to access your local network. I'm not saying many people wouldn't just tap Allow when the prompt comes up without thinking, but at least there's a level of blocking at the OS level there.
Not a good made-up example. If it only took you 1 second to make each device, and you never slept -- did it 24 hours a day -- it would still take you 158 years.
And it was only 6.5 years ago that Slack was welcoming some competition.

Completely agree. It's a terrible logo compared to their previous iteration.
For me, the strongest argument in the US is that we already tried permanent Daylight time and people hated it so much that they undid it!

So that makes me think Standard time might be the better option. But, I have no data or reasons why. I just think people should know the history before enacting the same mistake.
I remember that Slack made an advertisement welcoming Teams to the arena when it launched.

Do we really want to encourage video calling on airplanes? I guess on private jets would be one thing, but on commercial flights seems tacky.
Yes, this is probably exactly why. They also pulled down their "open source" downloads since that's where the keys were located.
Interesting that no one seems to have linked to greenluigi1's original posts:

It was quite interesting to read all the things they tried.
I'd like to know this same thing. Thus far, all I've found is for their coupons. Not sure if it applies to this "buy now, pay later" thing as well, but it does seem like it might fall under the same umbrella.
For my domain, following their directions here https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.microsoft.com%2Fen-...
1. Downloaded the policy templates file from https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Faka.ms%2FEdgeEnterprise
2. Added the admx files to my PolicyDefinitions folder in your SYSVOL folder under Policies
3. Opened up the Group Policy editor\Computer Config\Policies\Administrative Templates (will update from that PolicyDefinitions folder)\Microsoft Edge
4. Disabled "Shopping in Microsoft Edge Enabled"
5. Ran gpupdate on my test client and it instantly showed up on Edge's policy page
They have a list of all the policies which also lists the registry keys you could manually set if you aren't running in a domain.
Sigh.... Slashdot keeps giving me "Filter error: Looks like ascii art" when it looks nothing like ascii art.
This is true.
Year ago, I had an old XP machine I was getting rid of. But before giving it away, I formatted and did a fresh install of XP. The machine felt pretty snappy! Then I ran through the (many) Microsoft updates. By the end of that process, the machine once again felt like an old, slow machine. And this was doing absolutely nothing except for the sanctioned updates.
Not that I'm saying people shouldn't keep their machines patched. It was just eye-opening to me.
