Scientists Say Toads Can Predict Earthquakes 66

reillymj writes "Researchers claim toads sensed a severe earthquake last year five days before it hit. Last spring's L'Aquila earthquake devastated the medieval city of the same name in Italy. Five days earlier, a group of biologists noticed some toads behaving strangely in a pond nearby that would later be the quake's epicenter."

I find that there are a lot of useful prompt communities, and NaNoWriMo communities at LiveJournal and GreatestJournal.
And if your friend has an idea she thinks she can turn into a novel, I'd recommend she check out ahref=http://www.nanowrimo.org/rel=url2html-27113http://www.nanowrimo.org/>; even if she doesn't think she can make the 50k words in November, it's a good kick in the pants, and the community there is really supportive.
