Journal Marxist Hacker 42's Journal: Clearly I suck 4
My linux skills have atrophied. I need to set up 10 workstations today. I have one done. What is the *easiest* way to clone a partition in ubuntu 14?
--------------------------------------
Update: Ghost 4 Linux and LinuxLive USB Creator to the rescue. I haven't had a usable copy of Ghost since floppies ruled the emergency boot sector, now, I'm going to buy a 32GB keychain drive off of Amazon and make sure I am NEVER without a copy of G4L. Drive imaging in an emergency is just way too useful of a skill to have.

Definitely did not help. What did? G4L boot key, with enough room on it to clone the hard drive (luckily these are small 8GB mini-micros).
Is it plugged in? (Score:1)
:-) Sorry. I can't help it. But I actually "fixed" a printer that way..
So, even though I assume you know much more about these things than I do, I have to ask if you tried partimage... or *gasp* dd... I was actually pleasantly surprised how well and easy dd works. Just make damn sure you're doing the right disk..
Re: (Score:2)
Tried dd, failed without error and bricked the destination. Tried Partimage. Failed due to ext4 partition. Tried PartClone- couldn't see the USB key.
I finally burnt a copy of Ghost For Linux to the key, and that did the trick- luckily these were small (8gb) systems so a 16GB key worked great.
