Comment Numbers (Score 1) 196

I believe this to be true. There are hundreds of millions of Facebook accounts being signed up by bots and FB is doing nothing to prevent it.

It would look bad on their rap sheet if their user numbers were to decline as this could influence their stock price. Once in a while they delete a couple of million bot accounts, but just enough as not to decrease their total number of users.

Facebook Dating is rife with fake and bot accounts. They could easily prevent this by matching the location filled in by the user to the physical IP address location. Yet, they don't, because they don't care about phishing and hustling on their platform.

I second this.

It's ridiculous that in Africa health workers are being attacked because some negro has spread the rumor that vaccines are a Western plot to make them infertile.

As far as I'm concerned I wish they'd all starve.

Last but not least: we should've expelled all the freed slaves back to Africa after the Civil War. They weren't U.S. citizens and therefore had no right to stay, even if they were born there.

Too much depending on visual effects and no substance or plot to speak of, or at least one that made sense to me. I assume the same will hold for this movie.

Hollywood keeps forgetting it's telling a story, not showing some visual effects to make up for a hollow plot line. In that sense CGI is the worst thing that ever happened to the movie industry. With each improvement in the realism of the special effects the plots become thinner and thinner with the last Star Wars trilogy as the current low-point.

You're right that this reactor is primarily targeted at the military, who've already indicated to industry that they're interested in this kind of technology. They feel it saves them a lot of hassle of having to arrange regular transports of diesel fuel to power their generators.

And no, solar power won't suffice. Apart from the fact that not every location the military heads to has sufficient solar activity, solar panels require a lot of real estate.

The DoD needs to stop communicating false information about Russian and Chinese hypersonic missiles and reentry vehicles. Both countries developed them to overcome our ABM system, which threatened to make their nuclear deterrent useless. The Pentagon is now turning around the argument and claiming we trail both the Chinese and Russians and that this is dangerous, while it's us who started this arms race.

It's much easier and far cheaper to just build dozens of nuclear fission reactors per U.S. state and many small to medium nation states. It's basically energy storage and insurance premiums that will kill-off solar based power generation.

Only countries in the Middle-East and North Africa will be able to effectively and economically make use of solar power.

Developing a full-featured mobile operating system costs hundreds of millions of not billions of $ a year and hundreds of highly skilled an paid engineers. And Google isn't doing this out of altruism, it needs to make money to keep its shareholders happy.

Feel free to install an open-source version of Android or any other operating system. You'll quickly find out that most of these are subpar compared to Google's Android version. Depending on your modus operandi this may be acceptable, but for most people it simply isn't.
