I got my first Windows machine when Windows 95 came out, I was seventeen years old. Windows 10 will be my last.
On a lark I bought a refurbished Chromebook Plus last year, and it's a great machine. The Crostini Linux VM is Debian compatible and it's been able to handle anything I throw at it. I really don't see the need to buy a new machine just for Windows 11
It's kind of bittersweet too. I've always been a Microsoft fanboy because supporting Windows "pays the bills." My first IT job was working at a call center for $9 an hour doing tech support for Gateway computers. I've spent twenty years building a journeyman career supporting Microsoft products, and now earn a professional salary and have a comfortable life.
But it is what it is.
I tuned into NPR on the AM band well into the 2010's. When HD radio became a thing, the local station started simulcasting on a local FM radio stations band. Finally in 2023 the bought a dormant FM station, and now they are fully broadcasting on the FM spectrum
At this point I'm not sure what is even broadcasting on the AM spectrum anymore, I never tune into it on the radio.
Ehhh, I'm not seeing it.
I have a new Chromebook that came with "Gemini Advanced." I've been trying in good faith to ask it questions about my work, and all it does is spit nonsense back at me. Stuff like, "click on such-and-such tab" when the software I'm using is menu driven and doesn't even have tabs.
I don't know what folks up in the C-Suite use this thing for all day, but replacing my coworkers and me with it is completely out of the question.
I can't help but wonder if some of these brands really are unprofitable, or just badly run. I used to go to woot.com every day before Amazon bought it and ruined it, now going to meh.com is my daily habit instead. It seems like meh.com is profitable, so I'm assuming woot.com still could be too... if it was better run.
Except in this case Ford hasn't gone "all in" on electric vehicles. Once they start making non-luxury sedans, then they will have gone all in. Until then, this is all self-inflicted.
ROFL right? Can you imagine, a computer program accessing RAM? What kind of newb lets software access the system's RAM. Software should only be trusted to swap to disk, lol.
We'd play board games or couch co-op video games. We meet every week, and we already don't play D&D every time as it is. D&D is part of a larger hobby, it's not the whole hobby itself.
The four people minimum is really at the heart of this.
At my table, three of us buy rulebooks and two of us access online rules with laptops. If those two can can't play anymore, the rest of us will stop playing, and buying the books too.
I'm sure there is someone at Hasbro who thinks these changes mean they can monetize the other two players, but the truth is they would just lose three customers instead. I hope this backlash has helped them figure that out.
Why would it by you who installs the solar panels?
When landlords install rooftop solar, it lowers their tenants' electric bills. Lower electric bills in turn make their rental property more attractive in a competitive market. It's in the best interest of landlords to install solar panels.
When the first Wal-Mart opened in my town in the early 90's, they held an assembly in my school for everyone aged fifteen and older that was basically a recruitment drive. It was a rural high school (my graduating class was 60 kids) and a lot of people thought Wal-Mart would be a good opportunity.
It doesn't surprise me at all that Amazon would try the same tactic. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long.
Yep. And all those NIMBYs who fought high density housing to keep their own home values inflated? They're about to see those values crater. Good luck paying back those home equity loans.
Honestly if our address and business hours disappeared from the Google search results that might be a net positive. I'd rather have people click through and engage with our website to see our hours. It gives us an opportunity to put some more information in front of their eyeballs as well.
If someone's that much better then promote them to Sr. Character Animator or Lead Character Animator. Recognizing people's talent is not a new problem.
God is real, unless declared integer.
