I found the oldest file I have. It is a screenshot of my desktop from November 27, 1999 at 3:44 PM. I took it because I had been online via dialup for exactly 48 hours. Connected at 49,333 bps I had sent 25,811,512 bytes and received 483,508,153 bytes. It is either Windows 95 or Windows 98, the resolution is 800x600, and I have desktop icons for all the greatest software of the time. Acrobat Reader 4.0. AOL Instant Messenger. CuteFTP. GameSpy. ICQ. mIRC. Napster. Need for Speed III. Quake 3 Arena. QuickTime Player. RealPlayer. Unreal Tournament. Winamp. And an assortment of game demos and various downloads-in-progress via GetRight. Holy shit. Just now I realized that this picture is TEN YEARS OLD. Simply amazing. I'm going to keep this file forever.
The next oldest file I have is the original Spider-Man trailer, the one featuring the WTC towers; too bad they pulled it after 9/11. My copy of the file is dated August 8, 2001.
