Hahaha, you honestly don't think that Putin isn't aware of those targets already? He probably knows more about the weaknesses in U.S. infrastructure than we do.

It's like saying "don't kick me in the nuts!"... oh, I wasn't aware that your nuts might be a potential target. Give me a break.

I don't think he was illiterate, I think he glossed over a lot of things though.

The TI architecture was pretty complex and it wouldn't cost-reduce much. It required higher-cost components like static RAM, where Commodore used cheaper dynamic RAM. Another example of this was Atari trying to compete with the over-engineered Atari 400 and Atari 800... they would lose tons of money until the XL line was ready to sell.

The other problem was how idiotic the TI management was. The computer division would actually buy components at wholesale, (not cost) from their own chip division, so it would show that their chip division turned a profit.

Don't feel bad for TI though, they made plenty of bank selling chips to Coleco, Sega and the MSX crew.

I would have gotten rid of it in the first week of owning it, if the wife had let me. She loves it. Every time it gets turned on it gets stuck in corners... the same three corners every damn time (note: these aren't tricky corners--its just really really stupid). I don't know if mine is faulty or not, but it takes the updates no problem. Seriously, this "AI" they have in there could be replaced by some BASIC code written on a Commodore 64.

Maybe everyone here is too young to know who Ted Dabney was, or even what Atari was, but please have a shred of respect for a pioneer in the gaming industry.

So now I'm doubly sad... one for Ted, one for Slashdot, my (formerly) favorite website.

That's bullshit. You obviously have never been a parent.

Yes, parents shouldn't let kids live on a tablet all day long...sometimes you just want them to be entertained for a few minutes so you can focus on what you are doing (in my case, my autistic daughter is given a tablet, so I can get some shit done like cooking dinner or doing a bit of woodworking to make some money). It takes no time at all to stumble on this crap. I don't really like her seeing videos where her favorite characters are having their heads ripped off and their bodies lying in a pool of blood (yes, that happened). In Youtube Kids, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to block videos or channels. I would completely block all that content if I could.

And before you say I'm a bad parent...you don't know my life and my problems. Sick of SWJ neckbeards telling me what they think parenting should be without ever even babysitting before.

Why hasn't any major retailer in North America dug into this technology yet?

That is my biggest peeve when I go to a store. Bad or missing price tags. Companies spend buttloads of time trying to keep up with price changes, sales, changing inventory, etc. So why not use RFID shelf tags? They are about $5 for each digital tag now. The ability to change prices from a server room would probably save them money within the first few months of deployment.
