Mexico can sue whomever they want for whatever reason. The suit is probably mostly for domestic consumption and performative, just like a lot of Trump's actions.

Mexico actually has about 100 miles more coastline along the Gulf.

Calling it the "Gulf of America" doesn't make it any more of a US body of water. We're all on the North American continent. It's really more about Trump being a tinpot authoritarian shithead, and easily manipulated by whomever it was that whispered this idea into his ear.

Maybe we should expend less energy on dumb shit like this and concentrate on Trump's more important actions.

Ah, vendor lock in. The path of the lazy. Instead of innovating and creating a compelling product and service reputation. Probably just custom firmware to identify the drive. Hopefully people will soon produce a tool to copy and write the firmware. Of course they'll not ship the units with drive trays that accept drives, only maintain airflow, just like NetApp and similar ilk. 3D printing to the rescue. Fuck these guys.

Submission + - US Surrenders the Information War (technologyreview.com)

LazLong writes: The US is closing the organization within the State Dept charged with countering foreign disinfo campaigns. Along with the earlier closing of Voice of America and cutting funding to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, with this closing we see the US surrender the info space to China, Russia, and Iran.

Screw RealPage, Entrata, and AppFolio. They know that their software is perfectly capable of analyzing the real estate market and price such that other algorithmic AIs will price accordingly. RealPage et al hope that now that the Real Estate Loser in chief has become president again they can get the DoJ to drop cases, and will intimidate Berkeley and other cities into dropping or not implementing similar ordinances.

When Trump said America was heading into a new golden age, he was referring to go back to the conditions of the 1800s.

There is a difference between anti-semitic and against the policies of the current Israeli govt. Don't fall into the stupid propaganda hole of the Right and conflate the two. One can despise the policies of Netanyahu and the actions of the IDF in Gaza that have resulted in mass civilian casualties that would not be tolerated by the modern US military before the ascension of Hegseth.

There is far, far more anti-semitism on the Right and amongst Trump supporters. Of the two Dems you cite, ilhan Omar strays into territory that smacks of anti-semitism, but Rashida Tlaib, no. Being Muslim doesn't mean anti-semitic.

You are wrong. The Dept of Ed didn't "do NCLB." That was a bi-partisan bill championed by G. W. Bush, spurred on by his wife who was an educator. The executive doesn't pass bills, Congress does that. You, like seemingly most of America, evidently have no clue as to what Ed does. It doesn't dictate how to educate; it doesn't micromanage the states. It mostly distributes funds, conducts research, and ensures the states adheres to Federal law and the Constitution. Most of the discourse about the dept has come from the Right, so this propaganda what most people have heard. Educate yourself, before you wreck yourself.

FDIC helps prevent failures thru regulations that the banks must follow to by FDIC insured. These rules are fiscally responsible and help enforce good management practices that prevent failures. However, there's still need for enforcement.
