I agree that /. is nearly unique in this regard. I don't get as much out of the glory of free speech etc. But I wish more sites with a select audience would do this. It's sobering to see how vile the AC comments can be. Other places don't let it out and you could have the wrong assumption that your peers are just decent people. You genuinely cannot see that this language is actually not neutral either. Of course the machine doesn't care but keeping politically saturated terms puts them on life support too. I am not necessarily in favor of this move but it has merit.

Its ease of use is second to none and that does matter. It also makes sense, sadly, that its plugin repo is now full of freemium. There's clearly a large market but I hope that the genuinely free and quality plugins will remain. Without them, this number wouldn't be.

I have friends who live alone and for safety reasons they say they keep a land-line. Many offices won't switch to Internet phones even, let alone all cell phones. If my safety or my job depended on it, I would likely have one too. I have it easy enough that a cell phone is all I need
