It's very mixed up, which as an analogue electronics designer I find very annoying, but in this faulty newspeak digital is often used to mean: intangible data inside a computer of sorts, and analog(ue) as a counterpart to that, as something tangible, physical, instead of the original meaning, where analog refers to a representation of some value in the real world.

Most cringey is when things like digital detox are worded like "being in the analog world" for a while. They just mean: real world. And abuse and twist a technical term to sound smarter, I guess.

The real world is real, not analogue. It's not actually an analogy for something else.

Wow , Fairphone is catching up! Compared to my Samsung Galaxy S22 (26 too), the only things that I have on my requirements list that the Galaxy has and Fairphone doesn't are: ip67, zoom camera and USBC DP mode.

That last one is negotiable, I used that mode quite a lot at my previous job, not so much at the current one.

Then, the Fairphone has some great features on top of the repeatability, such as the card slot. And degoogleability. And if that's not a word, you say, it is one now, and a perfectly cromulent one at that!

Next year, my phone will be up for replacement, so perhaps the Fairphone 7?

Agreed, on our family NYC / Florida trip, we decided to visit the Orlando Universal Studios park and stayed at a connected hotel for several hundred bucks, but then we got early access, which helped avoid the queues at the start, and at the very end, the park was emptying, and we took the best rides again. No skipping the queues in a paid way, just decent planning. Tickets were USD 180 I think, times 4, so it did cost an arm and a leg. However, we all found it worthwhile (the Bourne show was the best show, rides weren't unanimous), and we all decided on our California trip that we weren't going to visit any theme park.

Reminds me of an expensive training I once got, sent by my company, and the trainer complained about always picking the slow (wrong) lane at the supermarket checkout. The short one will invariably have some older lady searching for the correct amount of coins, etcetera, and so you're wasting your life...

Yeah, I once was on the hardware side for mobile, got the info that my designs got produced and sold about 500 million times. Sure, I made just a tiny part with dozens of other developers, but still, it's cool. Not much of that went into Android phones, those were still doing baby steps...
