Comment Who is instructing the FTC? (Score 1) 27

It's unclear who is driving the inctructions to remove 'independent'. The Verge article is unclear because it says that FTC directed the staff. So we are to believe the FTC is willing giving up its own power? The article mentions "Republican leadership at the FTC" are not pushing back. But that raises the question - pushing back against what?

Very nice post, I appreciate it! It got me thinking - maybe if we use this framework for literally spelling out the categories for the who what where when why how, the younger generations might see how useful it is and copy it. What I mean, is that by seeing the categories used as headers the way you did, I felt it was more compelling compared to other styles that omit the headers. Almost like I found your writing more trustworthy because you were hitting all the important points and I didn't subconsciously worry that anything was being left out. Kudos and thank you again!

Comment How best to preserve free apps from their store? (Score 1) 41

This will be a great financial loss. What should we do to preserve the free apps we have accumulated in the Amazon app store? Back in the day I diligently claimed the many free apps that Amazon would offer over the years. Lots of good ones, which I'd otherwise have to pay for to obtain through Google Play. I don't want to lose all that money. How can we preserve these owned apps? Just download and install every single app from the Amazon app store, and never reformat that device(s)?

Of course the prices are going to drop. So ironic how I see this article tonight when just earlier today I bought an SSD from Microcenter (2TB WD SN850x, $15 discount for purchase with any motherboard, bringing the final price to $145). I wonder how much this will cost in six months...

The problem is when you use the tools as you describe, you get back results that have a chance of including errors. I think google provided a good example illustrating this risk in the very scenario you outlined, but the AI included results advising people to put glue as a topping on their pizza. So if you present those results in a business context, you will lose your customers permanently because they won't trust you any more.
