I always set my own, setting up samba and nfs shares backed up by mdraid or zfs isn't rocket science you know so no need for FreeNAS, TrueNAS, Openmediavault, Unraid etc. either. I just use whatever old computer I have in my junk room for the file server and install Slackware or Debian on it.

Similar setup. Using some old but great enterprise PCIe SSDs (with backup power capacitors) for the main storage, older Xeon powered workstation with ECC memory, and ZFS of course; running Alma Linux. Not just backup or storage, but runs VMs, media server, and a few other things. Rock solid, inexpensive, and just works.

Was MFA was made available by Snowflake and AT&T didn't use it? If so, inexcusably dumb.

Exactly that. MFA has been available in Snowflake for some time.

Given a smaller size for binary data saves on disk space, "improving" the size of something is synonymous with reducing the size, you autist.

Maybe you have plenty of storage space, so lower CPU load compressing/uncompressing files "improves" the files by reducing time to read/write and using less power? Wait, who's the "autist?"

Google developed android to protect against apple taking over the smartphone market and, while it seemed like a long shot, you see how successful that project has been.

This sounds like a defensive play against oculus. Facebook/oculus should be intimidated; google executes much better than crapware companies like fb and ms.
