Submission + - Adobe building Zoetrope, a web 'time machine' (technologyreview.com)

Khuffie writes: "Adobe, along with the University of Washington, are developing Zoetrope, an application that will offer a dynamic new view of the web. It is hard to explain on paper, but you can see a brilliant video of the application in action. Essentially, Zoetrope will allow users to travel back in time through a website, and see how the website gets changed. A user can create lenses on the website, for example, focusing on the price of a DVD at Amazon, and see how the price went up and down over the coming months. More interestingly, you can link lenses together across different websites, and for example, see how the price of gas was affected by say, the aggregated google news result of 'war'."

Khuffie writes: "It seems that the upcoming version of Opera 10, of which the first Alpha has recently been released, has already passed the Acid 3 test with a 100/100. The only other rendering engine to have a complete score is WebKit, which can be sign in Google Chrome's nightly build. Opera 10 Alpha 1 will also finally include auto-updates, inline spell checking, and also sees some improvements to it's built-in mail client, including much-requested rich text composition."

Submission + - Airforce emails sensitive information to citizen (edp24.co.uk)

Khuffie writes: "The US Airforce has been sending sensitive information, including flight plans for Air Force One, to a website promoting the town of Mildenhall. When told of the error by the site's owner, the air force did not attempt to fix it at first, and when reminded at a later time, instead of fixing the issue, they advised the owner to "block unrecognisable addresses from his domain and have an auto-reply sent reminding people of the official Mildenhall domain and blocked his website from access on base.""
