The First E-President 169
Szentigrade writes "Popular Science is running a letter by Daniel Engber of the online Slate Magazine in which he offers the US Presidential nominees advice on using the full potential of the Internet upon their election into office. Some examples discussed in the letter include: a project already being developed that speeds up the patent approval process, a UK site that aims to improve government-citizen interactions, and perhaps most importantly, a call for government information to be 'presented in a standardized and widely used data format, like XML, so that anyone — in or out of government — could use and reconfigure it however they pleased.' Will 2009 be the first year of the E-President?"
World's Smallest Projector 246
SkinnyGuy writes "Mixed into all of PCMag's CES preview coverage is an interesting story about a projector that's no bigger than an iPod. An early version showed up at last year's CES, but some of the guts weren't inside the small body. Now they are. It uses lasers to project the image. Really fascinating, futuristic stuff."

"If my son wants to be a pimp when he grows up, that's fine with me. I hope he's a good one and enjoys it and doesn't get caught. I'll support him in this. But if he wants to be a network administrator, he's out of the house and not part of my family. I tell this joke a lot. Once, a teacher told me that she tells the same one but for a 'teacher'."

Journal Journal: Stained Glass: a new take on a classic puzzle game.
Stained Glass is a game I invented while the rocks were still cooling in 1987. It was ported to the Macintosh by my good friend Nick Schlott, who then created Tesserae, a commercial game that was picked up by InLine Design a couple of years later.
Journal Journal: What is the Mindsack?
Okay, so it wasn't actually ready for prime time, but then I had an Ask Slashdot article posted and started to get hits ... so now the Mindsack is up and running.
