Meh... Screw it...
First, some jackass smashed into me and ruined my motorcycle. Some damage was done to me.
Then, a sibling died.
So, for those who know, I returned to using opiates - having found the above to be fine excuses. This, of course, was a bad idea. Detox, rehab, and medical assistance (Suboxone) are what occupied much of my time. I've been home for a while, but not really online. I did come post some AC comments, until resetting my password so that I could recover my account.

Slashdot has become infested with right-wing cranks and trolls and no amount of moderation seems to help. I come here less and less.
I also went back to work for a while (tech writing in avionics) then after 90 days I got headhunted to a better place but the recruiting firm is dicking me around endlessly asking for copies of school records I lost ~20 years ago. I'm in complete agreement. I'm way on the left, but not irrationally so.
Although I'm proudly on the Left, some of the Left's ideas are utter bullshit, like "cultural appropriation". Sorry, I just can't sign on to that imaginary offense.
On the other hand, MOST of the Right's ideas I see are cruel, insane, or just plain mean. I find it rare that an idea or proposal coming from the Right makes any sense to me.

When I was young, the Libertarians were the crazy left. Somehow, they became the crazy right. I am not actually sure how that happened. ;-)
The current incarnation of those who espouse beliefs is straight retarded. Libertarians (prior to Rand) would be fairly close to the Social Democrat that you see in Europe. I'm sorta, kinda, maybe a Libertarian Socialist. It's pretty hard to put me into a single platform. I have views that some would consider as placing me firmly in the conservative end of the spectrum.

Libertarians can't even define what "Libertarianism" means, no two will come to the same general definition. But at it's core it's completely unworkable. I've looked in to it quite a bit and the more I do, the more ridiculous it becomes. Oy.

LOL The day was beautiful. I had an appointment at the VA. Just a regular appointment with my primary. He tells me that I'm still alive. It was in the mid-70s and fantastic. It has been a cold and wet spring. It's been in the 40s at night and 60s during the day. Hell, we were still getting snow in May. Good times. ;-)

I normally wouldn't either, but the number of stores within 20 miles of me that sell Level II retention holsters for the M&P 9mm Shield is precisely...zero. There are plenty of gun stores but the actual selection of holsters for my pistol is basically nonexistent. Plus I'd have to drive from store to store to store with all that entails. And the holsters would be more expensive than they are on ebay or Amazon, too.

I don't actually have a real address. The post office box is down in Rangeley. I bother going there, maybe once every couple of weeks. It'd cost me time to fuck with that sort of thing. I find that, as I age, time seems to get more valuable to me. I still waste plenty of it. I just waste it on things that I find more enjoyable.

I was invited to moderate a site similar to slashdot a while back, and so I did. I found and approved stories and stuff for a while, but it was dead. Deader than disco. My preference tends towards a shoulder holster, and I also prefer larger pistols. I also don't mind not concealing, or not concealing very well. One of the reasons that I carry is to help ensure my safety. If people know I am armed, that seems to help keep them from getting rowdy. I've spent some time in pretty violent places - sometimes making less-than-legal transactions. I don't mind wearing on my hip.

It is and it's partly polymer too, but the gun is still thick and heavy. I'm a small-framed guy and it's just too much to tote around. Part of it is the ammo (15+1), but the fucking thing is still too thick and heavy for me. I prefer a paddle holster rather than a shoulder rig, so that's part of it.
