I know a better way: owning a Ferrari is definitely even more precise! I am pretty sure the correlation for Ferrari -> rich is close to 100%.
And on my one person sample (me), it's 100% more accurate since I don't own an iPhone (yuck!) but do have a Ferrari (albeit an old one.)

We are doing something similar. Although, the approach is more progressive.
We are switching from Oracle to PostgreSQL for new projects, and will move the existing databases as opportunities arise...
One can only hope that Oracle DB will follow Solaris in the slow death by free software, Oracle has an history of trying to monetize what can be had for free and failing miserably. I wonder how fast they will manage to kill Java given their current history of alienating customers.

I know, this is going to turn down to be a major headache for Nintendo!

I remember how they clamped down on the Zelda "Epona" bug, and were patching the OS to close all software attack vectors. They even modified the soldering of the chip to counter modchips... But they are not going to have it that easy this time.

But if they don't do it, they risk selling a lot of consoles, but hardly any game. I am sure they are already trying to find a way to patch it. Maybe, keeping some online aspect that will check if the system was hacked will be part of the solution.

This is going to be the new Wii in terms of homebrew and cracked games.
Remember the Homebrew channel? The way you could plug a hard disk and have the graphical interface to play all your "backup" games?

I am sure Nintendo are currently very worried about this and will try to get the hardware patched ASAP.

I have always have phones where the software updates outlived the hardware.
And it's not because I bought crap hardware (not always anyway), but because I chose hardware where I had control over the software.
I kept my first smartphone (First gen Samsung Galaxy S) for over 5 years. I unlocked the phone, got rid of carrier ROM, and later switched to Cyanogenmod.

When I buy a phone, first criteria is to check I can unlock the bootloader. Then I check it is supported by Lineageos (or will be shortly because it has strong following on Xda-Dev.)
I always keep my phones up to date via OTA, and can give them away (to friends or to my daughter) once I want to purchase a more recent model.
Now that Google made their phones too expensive, I am going the Xiaomi route.

I'd agree if Apple didn't try to make it impossible for users to change their battery!
Making the thing hard to open, gluing everything inside, charging $90 for swapping and putting too small batteries in their phone is ground to sue alone.
Apple is going out of their way to try to get people to buy a new phone instead of fixing the one they already own, and they are known for it, so this is just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Since people are too stupid to vote with their wallet, someone has got to do it. And I hope other's will follow, and not just Apple which is probably the worst offender but definitely not alone.
All electronics should be fixable, batteries should be accessible and changeable without voiding warranty. Repair guides for repair shops should be mandatory. Connectors (and chargers) should be standard.

And here comes the car analogy: if apple made cars, you could only service them in apple garages to fit new apple tires and apple brake pads. Does this sound reasonable?

I second this.
RE7 on VR is AMAZING. Simply the most fun/scare I have had playing games. And I have been playing video games over 30 years.
It is so involving and intense. You are IN the game not just watching it... I believe playing it in VR, is the only real way to play the game.

Can't wait for a plateform player. The robot mini-game just shows the potential. I was hoping they would make the Crash Bandicoot remaster a VR option, but it doesn't look likely. A new Armored Core by From Software is also an option for the next big VR title. I'd love to see Bloodborne 2 in VR as well (one can only hope.)
