This is what pushed me out of trying DF ~15 years ago; the noob-punishingly steep learning-cliff. I gave it a few tries and my dwarfs kept dying and it wasn't fun it was infuriating and obtuse. When I saw the release announcement yesterday the first thing I checked was to see if there's now a tutorial.

Comment Why are they trying to save it? (Score 1) 121

I don't quite understand why this employee would be trying to 'save' Meta. To save their job? They already worked at FB whose days were inevitably numbered by how immorally unscrupulous they were. It would have caught up with them eventually. Metaverse or no.

If FB had actually been an honest company that truly cared about connecting users they might have sat in a beloved and treasured position rather than the poisonous rat they are. In contra I've never really heard of anybody hating Steam on moral objections. Yeah, they have a solid monopoly and flaws, but the underlying motivation is just to sell games and connect players. But Steam never had an IPO so I presume the distinction is fragging MBAs.
