An Open Source Coffee Machine 99

An anonymous reader writes "The Open Source Coffee Machine [video link] is a recycled coffee machine, controlled by a PC running Beremiz, and using some MicroMod CANopen I/O nodes from Peak-System. This machine have been prepared by Peak-System and Lolitech for SCS-Paris-08 exhibition. It served free coffee during four days at Peak-System's booth, and has been donated to IUT of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, France, so that students can have fun practicing automation."

Think what you wish.

One of the primary reasons this was done was an exercise for our programmers on 360 coding, how to interface with Live, etc, etc, etc. This was done on a "smaller" project so that kinks and issues can be worked out for the larger project (DNF).

If you want to chicken little the world, go ahead. Doesn't make it right. :)

From the article: 'TiVo had sought $87 million in damages from the Dish satellite-TV network in a patent dispute that TiVo lawyers said could be "life or death" for the company that sold the first box for pausing and rewinding live television.'"

The nominees include 24: Conspiracy, Sophie Chase, and It's JerryTime!." From the article: "... lesser-known video creators are getting recognition as well. These include 'Sophie Chase,' an online series based on an attractive detective; 'Stranger Adventures,' a weekly interactive game where participants get e-mail messages and watch live-action video to help solve a puzzle; and 'It's JerryTime!,' created by two brothers from Massachusetts, Orrin and Jerry Zucker."
