Yes, it's misleading. I read that title and thought "OMG, corals have existed for 500 million years through average global temperatures as high as 36c (compared to 15c today). How hot is it going to get!?!?!?!?"

But then you read that it's just current reefs, and corals will do what they have always done and move/start new colonies where the temperatures are more to their liking.

There have been Chinese cars sold in the US for quite a while, even EVs (Polestar) and because they are not idiots they price them for what the US market is willing to pay, not the Chinese market. So if BYD ever enters the US market under their own brand, expect them to charge US prices.

Found it a bit humorous that your big mentions for European exceptionalism (Novo Nordisk and ASML) rely pretty heavily on the US.

Novo Nordisk does the majority of their R&D in the US, with their largest facility (with the most patents and papers) in Boston.

ASML's on the other hand is almost entirely a collection of US companies they bought out (Cymer invented their EUV/DUV tech, SVG produces the lithography equipment, and Brion Tech provided their patterning and lithography software). The "key components" are produced in the US and shipped to Denmark for final assembly. ASML is more American than Baseball or Apple Pie.

Good news, additional life expectancy for older people is much higher in the US than it is in the EU.

Average life expectancy for someone 75 years old in the US is 11 years for a man, 13 years for a woman.

Average life expectancy for someone 75 years old in Europe is 4 years for a man, 9 years for a woman.

I think the data-manipulation argument isn't about how accurate thermometers are, it's about how accurate satellite temperature readings are (especially when they so often conflict with local thermometer based readings).

I would expect discussion on this post to center around the fact that localized data doesn't really mean anything when discussing overall "climate change". Parts of Australia and the west coast of the US are currently experiencing record breaking cold temperatures for June.

Wait, what do you think the word volunteer means? The official definition says one who freely offers to do something, that means to choose to do something of your own volition rather than be compelled. It DOES NOT mean working for free.

In this case, they are volunteering to work in the warehouse in lieu of their normal workplace. And the word volunteer is appropriate because their bosses aren't singling people out and saying "YOU WILL GO WORK IN THE WAREHOUSE".

Why would they need to compete with Chinese cars in the US? No Chinese car brand has ever made it's way stateside. We have been hearing about fabulously cheap Chinese cars for decades, but you can't buy them here and if you import them the cost savings go away. And yes, I know some well known car brands (like Volvo) produce some cars in China. Those are not the cheapo cars everyone is talking about.

If we ever see a BYD Electric car in the US it will cost 3-4x what it did in China.
