Not necessarily. Did the first google hit make you believe everything the page said? Commons sense and healthy skepticism are needed to filter through whatever the AI surfaces. And that's of course only if you use an AI as a source of information instead of putting it in charge.

Oregon tried legalizing hard drugs, and that didn't go particularly well, did it? Only 4 years later, those masses that voted overwhelmingly in favor of decriminalizing drugs, repealed the act.
Drugs are a problem, and will remain a problem, given bounded resources. But you can't conclude from that that doing nothing would have been better.
The one thing about tariffs, is that they are an unbounded resource, and you can just keep rising them until you have the right balance.

I kind of want to hate on 4K TV as an unnecessary gimmick, and it's easy to do so.

But then I remember that I saw First Contact in IMAX when it came out, and that was the single most memorable movie watching experience of my life, so I can imagine.

Also, if you do have 52"+ screen in your home theater, then HD just looks awful.

These days, it doesn't matter if what you make is good, as long as enough people have heard of the name to give it a go on streaming platforms. That's also why we have endless sequels instead of new ideas.

If subscriptions to streaming platforms were as easy as flipping the channel, then we wouldn't see so much of this. Also, ad-supported streaming might curtain this trend, but right now, your money is already in their bank.

The fact that this will undoubtedly be used for more woke propaganda isn't even the biggest problem.

In IT, many companies will hire a guy with proven contributions to opensource projects over the young graduate. And how hard is it really to prove your skill? Of course, medicine is an easy counter-examples where formal education is an absolute requirement.

So what does that look like for your particular field?
