Comment Re:The bane of my phone existence (Score 1) 24

I have limited trust in lithium batteries and specifically avoid charging my phone when I'm not conscious. I plug it in typically when I notice it's under 50%, often using a car charger on the way to or from work. Other than an unnoticed camera bug, I've never had it low on battery in the morning.

Most likely the camera bug would still be present if I did charge overnight, but would likely result in the phone getting even warmer.

"Camera is performing image processing service".... I have awoken to a dead phone many times thanks to this bug. Thanks for that, Google.

I always know when it's happening, because for me in particular, any camera app will hang with a black screen while the bug is active. If I'm smart that day, I take that as a prompt to reboot the phone.

Kape was previously named Crossrider, a company that had been called out by researchers at Google and the University of California for developing malware. Apparently I'll be dropping my PIA subscription. The summary couldn't be bothered to tell us which services were owned by the malware developer, so here's a public service for you.

Except that the WiFi sufferers also react to a router with the lights on but no functioning radio. Meanwhile, devices that are transmitting but have the lights disabled so as to appear off have no effect on them.

To my knowledge, no double-blind test has ever confirmed that WiFi sensitivity is real.

One service we use at work seems to enforce this VERY badly. They have eight password complexity requirements, seven of which I consider unreasonable.

The kicker?

"Reeeally-secure-password, like-no-kidding" (which, according to howsecureismypassword.net, would take until the heat death of the universe to crack) breaks five of the rules and is considered insecure and disallowed. "abcde1!" does not break any rules, and is thus allowed as a password.

Now you're speaking my language!

DCS games are good but they are not chiptune.

Nor is their sound design as clever and organic as the earlier designs. Audio designer Chris Granner even said that the DCS board was one step forward and two steps back.

Black Knight 2000 was musical brilliance that almost no modern "high-quality" game audio system can truly re-create.

I'd like to see any modern-day instance of a sound system that literally holds the rest of the software captive until the right beat of the music: https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamasutra.com%2Fblog...
