Comment Screw all these bankers (Score 1) 93

They've been feasting off of an economy that normalized 0.25% interest rates and the moment the federal rate goes up, they all choke on their own greed. I'm middle aged and for the first time I'm about to replace my savings account with a brokerage account after being brainwashed my whole life that I needed a savings account. I could care less if their business model is based on me losing wealth. People used to be able to get good enough rates to retire just using savings accounts.

If this means we live in a world with 4 big heavily regulated banks, then so be it.

I highly doubt it's because they didn't want to work or we'd have seen this happen on all the Christmases and NYE's before.

What I heard was after the airlines laid off tons of employees, they've basically exhausted the OT for remaning employees. Not exactly because of COVID, more like their policy in keeping up profits during COVID.

I use both, Apple products are designed to lock you into their infrastructure with the sophisticated way all their devices dumb down common tasks. It's really ingenious in the marketing sense. Once you have a couple products, you're hooked and not many people are techie enough to want to burn time learning different systems.

This is the right answer. Borrowers are well dissociated from the *real* costs of student loans because of our deferment system. It sounds grand at first, but it's hard for a family who might be sending their first child to college on loans to understand what $50K in debt on a $50K entry level salary really means (and heaven forbid your child drop out after a couple years. Never mind those going into masters or doctorate programs).

It all seems "obvious" if you and your family have experienced this before, but I assure this is not the case for a lot of borrowers.

No one denies the power of the Faux News/Russia propaganda machine. And, like clockwork when shit implodes on them like the Trump administration they start up with the "both sides" narrative.

I'm curious what talking points the Iranians generated to make Biden more popular. Biden's win was driven the same way as Obama's; Americans watching a moron fumbling about in office.
