Maybe if these folks who bought it will try to inject some life into it? The headlines are still really good. e.g.: "The Onion Stands With Israel Because It Seems Like You Get In Less Trouble For That" (oct 13, 23). And you can't blame them, no one really reads past the headlines anymore (slash-geeks are outliers).
Leaders, and I mean all titled leaders, are paid to make unpopular decisions and to deal with their consequences which often include a resignation (with a golden parachute). It's not an easy thing to do, be hated by everyone. I'm not defending the CEOs who are the target of that quote in the story. I'm just saying this is what they get paid to do. It's another argument entirely if you want to discuss leaders who do or do not make timely decisions and/or have the integrity to deal with their choices.
It's not considered incorrect grammar, but I sure don't like it either.
