Per the article, the wood is impregnated with 1-Tetradecanol which is an environmental hazard. Probably will have to be treated the same as other treated woods.

I don't hate it. In the summer without DST, the sun rises at about 4:00 AM and sets at 7:00 PM. Some people are awake at 4:00, but more are awake at 5:00. And almost everyone is awake between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. With DST you get an extra hour of sunlight while you're awake.

I used to have a project manager who would wait until after we submitted a project to review the project, and try to argue against changes in the building code and the subsequent revisions we had to do. He did make good arguments; a lot of the code changes were unnecessary and sometimes counter-intuitive even though the building code said it had to apply to our project. But my answer was always the same: that's nice, but why did you wait until it was too late to rail against the system?

Polymer frame pistols are arguably more durable than metal frame pistols. But no, a 3D printed one- something that's layered on itself- would not be more durable.

I also initially thought about how dumb his achievement was, but we also have to re-calibrate to what a 13 year old is capable of. If I, an 25 year old engineer, took a digital clockwork apart, put it in a metal box, and tied it with wire it's obviously a non-accomplishment. But a 13 year old might think it was cool.
