During the 1960s and 1970s, some scientists observed a cooling trend in global temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s. This was partly due to an increase in aerosol pollution, which can reflect sunlight and cause temporary cooling. A few scientific papers and popular media articles speculated about the possibility of a coming ice age.
However, even at the time, the majority of climate scientists were more concerned about the long-term effects of greenhouse gas emissions, and by the late 1970s, research overwhelmingly supported the idea that global warming due to CO and other greenhouse gases was the more significant and lasting trend.
A 2008 review of climate literature from that time found the concern over global cooling was largely a product of media exaggeration rather than a strong scientific consensus.
There is option d) Stop and buy the stuff you know you don't have and if you find out your missing something when you get home then just make due with what you have. It might not be what you planned but it is all still food.
I put things on a shopping list when I run out so I know what to buy when I'm shopping. But I'm not perfect and sometimes I forget to put something on the list or miss it when I'm shopping. My wife is even worse because she doesn't both looking at the list (which is synched between our phones) half the time when she is shopping so sometimes we have some creative meals. At the end of the day food goes in food hole, just eat it and move on.
So does that make the Democratic People's Republic of Korea a democracy then? After all it says it right in the name, so it must be true.
The Nazi Party (National Socialist German Workers' Party, or NSDAP) co-opted socialist rhetoric early on to attract workers but was fundamentally opposed to core socialist principles. The Nazis crushed trade unions, outlawed leftist parties, and suppressed socialist and communist movements, they saw Marxism, socialism, and communism as enemies, sending many to concentration camps. While the Nazis implemented state intervention in the economy, this was not for worker empowerment but instead militarization and nationalistic expansion. This is a common tactic of fascist regimes, but that doesn’t make them socialist. They also partnered with large industrialists and allowed private ownership of major industries, as long as they aligned with state goals. And as everyone knows the Nazis promoted racial hierarchy and nationalism, openly rejecting socialist ideals of equality.
