Feed The Register: Court denies stay of Internet radio execution (theregister.com)

Three days and counting...

The Internet radio death watch continues. Late yesterday, a federal appeals court denied an emergency stay petition from webcasters, refusing to delay the arrival of massive royalty hikes that threaten to bring down online radio as we know it. The new royalty rates - which could mean a 300 per cent payment increase for large stations, 1200 per cent for smaller broadcasters - are due to kick in this Sunday.

Live GTAIV Demo Dominates Take Two E3 Event 55

The Take Two event was dominated by a live demonstration of Grand Theft Auto IV . Though little more than jacking a car and a bit of driving was shown, it seemed to make an impression on journalists at the event. Other titles shown at the conference include Civilization Revolutions, Bioshock, and All-Pro Football 2K8. From Joystiq's take on the GTA demo: "Two Rockstar devs take the stage. The music is a placeholder, so they ask that we not mention it. They've never shown a game to an audience this large before it's release. They remind us that it's a work in progress, so we'll be nice. Something tells us it will impress regardless. The titles shares all key players from earlier GTA games. This consistency should ensure that the title meets expectations. With GTAIV, they're looking to "create the defining next generation action adventure." They show Niko starting in Star Juntion (Times Square). This is not a rags to riches story, 'it's a rags to slightly better rags story.'"

Feed Engadget: Alienware headed to retail? (engadget.com)

It looks like high-end PC maker Alienware might soon be following its parent company into the wilds of retail sales, at least according to French blog LaptopSpirit, which claims to have heard as much from Alienware's French marketing director. According to the site, the company could begin selling its systems in "selected stores" as soon as first quarter of 2008, with the retail push expected to extend to every country that Alienware currently sells computers in. While Dell's newfound retail love would certainly seem to make a similar move by Alienware a distinct possibility, we'd still recommend taking this with a grain of salt pending some harder evidence.

Journal Journal: Firefox Add-ons: Pray Times! 1

I know that there are a lot of adhan (Islamic call to prayer) devices out there and many Muslims use the Windows application Athan by IslamicFinder. But I recently installed Ubuntu ME, the Muslim edition of Ubuntu, a popular Linux OS distribution and it works well with one exception, I can't seem to to get Djihed Affifi's Minbar application to work. So I began looking for an alternative

i'll have to agree with others on this list. i used to run inkjets... epson, canon, lexmark... but they drink thsoe carts like crazy..AND if you dont use them in a while they become painful with nozzle cleaning etc etc. I got an HP 2600n a while back and though the initial outlay was higher, the printing is quicker cleaner and the running costs are lower. for really fancy printing (eg glossy 8x6 photos) i prefer to just head to local supermarket and use their 10p per picture printing service.
