Montag Newswire: Weather
22 January in the Year of Our Lord, 2005
Arlington, the Deep Blue County of VA, One Terrain Feature from the Occupied City of Washington.

The sleet has begun.

Soon, the people of Northern Virginia, Washington DC and parts of Maryland will start their engines and abandon their vehicles in the most interesting ways one could imagine.

This reporter shall take this time to clean laundry and shotguns, with the occasional glance at the George Washington Parkway for entertainment purposes.

The snow has started, the rampage in the stores occured last night. This reporter was there on the scene as angry soccer moms clawed each other for the last stocks of bread and milk, leaving their dead behind to rot in growing pools of blood.

Old ladies yelled and issued vague threats to happless young cashiers because cashiers are the cause of all the troubles, everywhere.

It is quiet now, waiting. the tension in the air is thick, waiting for
  • Ran out to Wal*Mart next to my house this morning. It appears that most people out here in Hagerstown have some semblance of winter sense which appears nearly nonexistant elsewhere in the mid-atlantic. There was plenty of bread, milk, and toilet paper. We got a sled for the boy, and cough medicine as we're all nursing illness.

So far, we've officially got a dusting. I've been sweeping it off every few hours to keep it from being a major job when it decides to quit tomorrow. I'll try to setup a photo ga
  • This is the shit I do not miss. Jackasses who freak out when it starts misting, let alone snowing. Insane brake-check marathon sessions on 90 & the Beltway. People telling me I shouldn't go out to drive because there's something stupid like 2 inches of snow on the ground. BAH!

And I'm PCS'ing to Quantico again in April. Shit! Shit! Shit!
  • If they're picking up those as well, it will look like the northeast will be preparing to fend off the storm with giant servings of french toast.

Good thing they'll have plenty of toilet paper...
  • we are experiencing the wicked frozen cold before the snow engulfs our area dropping us into a Hellish orgy of hatred and "snow throwing." Milk and bread are abundant as the much less expensive beer and nachos have all been bought up.

A local Seven-Eleven employee had this to say about the coming apocolyptic blizzard, "You mutha****, how can you leave me in dis dore? You filthy, infidel, mutha****! Allah will kill you all!"

    Back to you b1inder!
  • I went up to a picture framing place only to find it A) closed (an hour after it was supposed to open at 10 am) and B) its parking lot overrun by the Giant next door as people scrambled for last minute foodstuffs.

I'm just praying the Comcast guys get here instead of deciding its every tech for himself...
  • The hateful ice crystals of doom have begun falling here in Outer Whitelandia GMontag and the expected orgy of violence, SUVism and unabated drinking have enLoued.

As I watch from my perch, two stories above North Morris avenue the scene is like William Hogarth meets Hieronymous Bosch on a Derek Riggs Iron Maiden album cover. Dear GOD that's not two nuns making out it's one torn in half by the Hummers.

    Back to you b1inder.
  • Sleet here. :-(

  • Here it is 54F and cloudy with scattered rain showers, no sign of the evil ice crystals from the sky.

In all seriousness though from what I can tell from the weather maps it looks like the great blizzard of '05 is every bit as bad as they said it was going to be it's just that it swung somewhat further north than first predicted.

Boston, CT, and NYC are still going to get it real bad with up to 3 feet of snow in Boston. NoVa, DC, and Bawlmer should see the storm intensifing later this evening. Virginia and
  • Sunny, High in the 60's, and jsut beautiful. Low tonight in the 20's, high back in the 40's tomorrow, upper 50's Monday, and low 70's Tuesday.

Not that I'm trying to rub it in or anything. No, really!

You guys all stay warm. God Bless - RG

Partly cloudy here, with a high predicted today of 69. It was in the high 60s to low 70s most of last week, too.
